Hello dear host family,
My name is Shakirah, and I am 24 years old from the beautiful country of Uganda. I am very grateful for the opportunity to introduce myself to you and to share why I would love to become your au pair, as well as what I can offer your family.
I come from a close, warm and supportive family environment where respect, kindness, and helping each other are very important values. Growing up, I was surrounded by siblings, cousins, and many young children in my extended family, so childcare and responsibility became a natural part of my daily life from a young age. This foundation guided me toward my current profession, and it continues to inspire the way I care for and interact with children today.
I am a trained midwife with several years of hands-on experience working with children, newborns, and mothers. I studied at Kampala University (Mutundwe Campus), where I completed my Certificate in Midwifery.
During my training and career, I have worked in different medical centers, including:
Kamic Medical Center (Internship) – 3 months
Excel Medical Center – 7 months as a midwife
Riyadh Healthcare Nansana – currently working, with 2+ years of experience
Through my daily work, I have gained strong skills in:
Caring for infants and young children
Assisting mothers before and after birth
Safety, hygiene, and health monitoring
Administering medication
Immunization and child health routines
Staying calm and patient in any situation
This background has made me responsible, organized, and confident in caring for children of different ages, especially babies and toddlers.
Why I Want to Be an Au Pair
Becoming an au pair combines three things I truly care about:Working with children,Cultural exchange, learning and growing as a person in a new environment
I believe that living with a host family is the most beautiful way to experience a new country through real family life, shared meals, traditions, and daily routines. I am excited to learn about your culture, your language, and your lifestyle while also sharing parts of my Ugandan culture in a warm and respectful way.I see the au pair experience not just as work, but as a meaningful exchange that creates connection, understanding, and trust between two families from different parts of the world.
Language Skills & Learning
I hold an ÖSD A1 German certificate and I am continuing to study towards A2, B1, and B2. I love learning languages, and I am committed to improving quickly so that I can communicate well with your children and fit into the community.If I am placed in Sweden, Denmark, Finland, or the Netherlands, I am also happy to learn the local language and take classes. I am flexible and excited to learn whichever language my host country uses.
People often describe me as:Kind and patient,responsible and calm,hardworking and reliable,loving and gentle with children and positive and easy to live with.
In my free time, I enjoy:
Cooking simple meals (and learning new recipes!)
Listening to music
Outdoor walks and nature
Spending time with children

I love simple, peaceful routines, and I enjoy taking care of the home environment so that everyone feels comfortable and supported.As your au pair, I will bring:

I believe communication is very important. I will always ask questions when I’m unsure and will always follow your instructions.My goal is to be a helpful, trustworthy, and cheerful part of your home ,someone your children feel safe with and someone you can rely on every day.
After my au pair experience, I hope to continue growing personally and professionally, and possibly advance in the medical or childcare field. But for now, my biggest wish is to find a loving host family with whom I can share a meaningful cultural exchange during my time abroad.
