Dear family,

I am already very excited about getting to know you. But first, I would like to introduce myself to you.
My name is Marion, a 29-year-old lady from Kampala city, the capital of Uganda (East Africa). I live with my mum Daisy (47). I am an only child and I have been raised single handily by beautiful mum after my father and two brothers passed away 27 years ago. My mother works as a tea lady and sometimes as an office support staff for a small firm.

I would describe myself as a responsible, dependable, and caring person, who tries to make the best out of every situation. I like spending time with my friends who I genuinely consider as my family for they are especially important to me. In my free time, I like going to cinema, having outdoor fun activities or go for dance classes. Dancing is one of the hobbies I have recently gotten, and I am part of a dancing club that encourages little children to discover their dancing talent. I enjoy reading and I am a co-founder of a book club in my community aimed at encouraging reading in schools and donating reading materials to children in local government schools, it’s absolutely amazing when I see the beam of light in their eyes when they are excited.

At the moment, I work as a secretary for a small company, which involves a lot of administrative work, planning, budgeting, and ensuring that all our clients’ needs are met. As a result of, I can bond with many of our clients. Three years ago, I worked as a librarian and digital archivist for a publishing media house where at times, I oversaw writing articles in the children’s section of the newspaper, as well as volunteering at the children’s festivals that were organised by the company every year. This was an extremely rewarding experience.


Within the years, I have had the opportunity to take care of children of all ages from different families. From caring for children every Sunday (Sunday school babies and toddlers) to stepping in for mum’s who have busy work schedules and cannot get home early. I can also cook and clean .The time I have spent with the different kids has been so much fun, with so many rewarding lessons. Sometimes I feel like this bond makes me feel I have siblings in these little ones, having grown up with none. They are just a ray of sunshine.

I would wish to be an au pair because I would like to get to know the diverse cultures, languages, passions and lessons from around the world. For I believe the world has become a global village. But most importantly, it would be a great awesome chance to spend an entire year taking care of children and helping any family that indeed needs help in any way possible. I pray that we can develop a good relationship, working and living together as a family. I shall be genuinely excited to experience an awesome eventful year with you and your kids. I am looking forward to talking to you.
