To whom it may concern,
I am currently a part of the past pupils' association of St. Joseph's Convent Port of Spain. After upper 6, I was required to take a gap year where I worked with a family as a tutor/nanny for the full year while the both kids did online school in 2021. Notably, it was with these kids that I found my passion for child care. I am currently an undergraduate student, completing a Bsc. Medicine Bsc. Surgery Degree at UWI St. Augustine, Trinidad and Tobago and it is for this reason I am not quite available for an extended period of time anymore but I do try to use my break time away from school to devote to child care.
I volunteered with underprivileged kids who are unable to attend school as a teacher with a local institution. Recently, I also devoted my entire summer of 2023 to work at a camp in the US with kids with a serious illness/diagnosis. Last summer changed my life forever, and it is this reason why I am now certain that I would one day be a pediatrician.
My core values of child care involve open communication, not just with parents/guardians but also with the kids. I also believe that each child has their own definition of success and it is for this reason it is important to get to know them and understand their personality. I see it crucial to be a role model to them as well as their best friend in one, which although can be conflicting due to having to correct them at times, is ultimately rewarding. I am also able to adapt well in situations as not every day in child care would go as planned.
Overall, I believe that I am a perfect fit to every family looking for someone to trust with their kids.
