Introduction
My name is Janelle, I’m 26 years old and I’m from the vibrant, sunny twin-island of Trinidad and Tobago. I’m reaching out in the hopes of joining a family who not only needs an extra set of loving hands, but also welcomes someone who is kind, uplifting, and intentional about creating a warm environment for their children.
As a person, I’d describe myself as optimistic, thoughtful, and someone who loves bringing light wherever I go. I deeply value order, and I believe in people sometimes even before they believe in themselves. I try my best to leave people and spaces better than I found them, especially children, who I believe deserve the best of our energy, patience, and love.
?? My experience with children
I’ve had the joy of being a children’s Bible school teacher at my church, where I led activities, simplified stories, and helped nurture little ones in their early spiritual and social development. I’m also an active auntie to five nieces and nephews, which has made me very familiar with the ups, downs, moods, giggles, messes, and magic that children bring! From meal times and homework to playtime and moral lessons, I’ve been in the thick of it and truly enjoy the journey.
? Skills & hobbies I bring to the table
I enjoy cooking, especially Caribbean-style meals full of flavor and love, but I’m always excited to learn what the children like and try new styles. I also enjoy:
• Agro-processing and healthy food preparation
• Handmaking shoes (still learning but loving it!)
• Doing hair – I can do basic styles and care routines
• Collecting shells & nature gazing – simple joys that I love sharing with kids.
I’ve also taken online training courses to better prepare myself as an au pair. These include:
• Montessori-style child care
• First aid and child nutrition
• Special needs awareness
• Food hygiene and preparation
All of this is because I want to serve your family in a way that’s both heart-led and informed.
? Why I want to be an au pair
I’m choosing this path because I care about impacting children positively, while also growing as a person. I have a deep interest in French culture, especially the fashion and art scene, and I’d love to learn the language, explore the everyday beauty of French life, and pursue my dreams through study and connection. But more than that, I want to do it while being a loving and reliable presence in a family’s home.
? The family I hope for
I’m looking for a family that sees people for who they are and treats others with kindness. I hope to be welcomed by humans who love humans and remember that they’re humans grace giving, open-hearted, and warm, even on the tough days.
? My approach to child care
I aim to be uplifting, firm but gentle, and consistently loving. I believe that children blossom best in an environment that feels secure, where they are listened to and guided with wisdom and compassion. I also value structure and am more than willing to help maintain or create routines that support your family’s rhythm.
? Faith & values
While my home country is rich with culture, my personal compass is guided by the Bible. I’m open and respectful of different lifestyles, but I do prioritize choices and activities that align with my values. I’m also willing to gently explain my boundaries if needed and I do so with love and respect.
? Readiness
I’m currently ready to travel at any time. However, I do not yet have the au pair visa, so I would be deeply grateful for a family who’s willing to walk through that process with me. I assure you I am worth the effort, and I will give my best to your family in return. You won’t regret investing in me.
Thank you for reading this far! I hope something in my message connected with you, and if you feel we might be a good fit, I’d be happy to chat and learn more about your family.
Warmly,
Janelle
