Dear Host Family.
My name is Mohamedi. I was born in 1995 in Kilimanjaro, Tanzania. I am a professional English language and geography teacher with five (5) years of professional experience in teaching. I graduated from the Univerity of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania (2018), pursuing linguistics and geography as significant subjects. I worked as an English language teacher at Bravo Secondary School in Morogoro, Tanzania from November 2018 to December 2020. Currently, I work at Thabita School in Dar es Salaam Tanzania, where I teach the English language to students. Professionally, I have spent my past five years teaching young students, which has motivated me to apply for an Aupair program.
I come from a family of 4 children, My father has worked as a teacher in the government for years now. My mother is a retired teacher since 2022. As an elder brother, I like spending time with my family and helping them in every way I can. Professionally, I’m interested and passionate about helping my community through education, and for this reason, I have been working as a teacher since 2018. As a teacher, I have helped the community I live in send kids to school, and I make my efforts to make sure students get a better education and eradicate poverty. It is really hard work but I like to do this job and it gives me new energy because I love my teaching profession.
I plan to become a modern and professional language teacher with much experience and new modern teaching methodologies, which will positively impact the younger generations in Tanzania. I believe in impacting them academically to change their lives and for the communities here in Tanzania through education. As long as English is used as an instructional language in secondary education and higher educational institutions in Tanzania, it needs excellent emphasis and consideration, as well as qualified and experienced English language professionals. That is why I’m applying for the Aupair program to take some time out of academics to have a different life experience in European countries.
For this reason, I would very much like to find a nice family to live with and work for in Western countries. Regarding childcare experience, I have looked after children in both formal and informal contexts. I started caring for children ever since I was growing up looking after my one young sister and two younger brothers while my parents were working. I used to feed them, bathe them, and take them to bed making sure they were safe. In 2012 I volunteered at a Mental Retarded Children Centre in Morogoro Region in Tanzania. Here It was not always easy to take care of children but it gave me experience and I shared some good times with them. Now I have been teaching English to kids ever since I completed my studies in 2018. I can comfortably say that I sincerely enjoy spending time with children and when around them I’m joyful, playful, humorous, and creative.
Upon returning to Tanzania after the Aupair program, I hope to have enough experience, new skills and approaches to teaching. I plan to start an English language learning center to facilitate English language learning for my community’s young boys and girls. The Aupair program goals match precisely with my professional career and, if selected, it will assist me in achieving my long-term career goals. It will allow me to introduce my experience and skills to teachers, educational experts, and educational institutions and see how we can use and utilize them in Tanzania's academic policies for better educational outcomes.
