My name is Chloé, and I am a 23-year-old South African. I am very excited about the
opportunity to become your au pair. I have a calm, warm, and positive personality, and I
enjoy creating a happy and relaxed environment. I especially enjoy engaging in practical and
hands-on activities, such as drawing, reading, and crocheting, which I find are both enjoyable
and calming for children.
I chose to become an au pair due to my long-standing experience working with children. Au
pairing abroad was a decision I made in hopes of broadening my abilities, strengthening my
skills, and gaining new perspectives on life. I appreciate that the responsibilities of an au pair
combine care, structure, personal growth, and responsibility, which suits me very well.
My experience with children began early in my life. I volunteered as a teacher’s assistant at a
Montessori kindergarten for three months, where working closely with young children
inspired me greatly. Following this, I volunteered as a Sunday school teacher and also gained
experience through occasional babysitting. After graduating from high school, I began
working as an online tutor and later as an events facilitator and supervisor at various schools.
More recently, I volunteered again as a teacher’s assistant for six months at a primary school
and have since been working as an au pair in the Netherlands for the past year.
Through these experiences, I have developed valuable skills, including patience, clear
communication, understanding children’s individual needs, and planning daily routines. I
understand that my role as an au pair is not only to assist children in their everyday lives but
also to support parents as reliably as possible. I value following house rules, maintaining
respectful and open communication, and approaching my responsibilities with kindness,
reliability, and attentiveness.
