Dear Host Family,
Hello! I hope everything is well with you. My name is Melanie , 24 years old from the Philippines.
I am the youngest of five siblings (2 girls and 3 boys). My Mom is a housewife while my father was a driver but he already retired. I was raised in the countryside, so my childhood was filled with lots of adventures in the outdoors like Sliding from the top of the hill, climbing trees, playing under the rain and under the moonlight, just running around, swimming, cycling and picnics by the beach.
When I entered college, I decided to take up Hotel and Restaurant Management because giving Customer Service is what I love. I feel happy taking care of people and to be of service wherever and whenever I am needed. I am grateful to have been blessed with nephews and nieces also with my neighbor’s children, whom I get to bond with, play with, care with, and learn with. When I got the opportunity to work after I graduated, I worked as an intern in the United States of America at the Holiday Inn of Alexandria from March 2018 to June 2018 for Cultural Exchange Program one of my job descriptions as an intern was housekeeping in which I kept clean every room that was assigned to me. At the same time as Food and Beverage Attendant I prepare and serve food. I also worked here in the Philippines at Krispy Kreme as Barista and Cashier.
I worked part time as a babysitter for my colleagues’ children and as a night caregiver for an old couple who lived in the neighborhood. When I worked as a babysitter, my responsibilities included bathing and grooming the child, preparing their meals and feeding them, taking them to the park, playing with them, cleaning the house when the baby is sleeping, etc.
As a person, I can say that I am determined and persistent. I always do my best in anything I put my mind into. I have various work experiences that made me highly-adaptable and culturally-sensitive over time since I have worked with people from all walks of life in different environments. I worked and trained as a hotel receptionist in a resort, a restaurant junior supervisor, event organizer, fast food crew and a tutor. My interests include arts, music, culture and languages, travel, photography, flower fields, poetry, and more. I am a quick-learner and very eager to learn new things
I decided to leave my former latest job (at Krispy Kreme Philippines) for an adventure halfway across the world. I realized that there is more to life beyond the corporate horizon. I want to become an au pair because I want to broaden my knowledge about languages and other cultures. I hope to share my own culture to other races, too. I am looking forward to be an au pair for a warm welcoming host family.
