Hello Future Host Family!

I’m Arbel, 25, an aspiring first-time Au Pair from the Philippines, and I’m looking for my first host family in the Netherlands.

My friends and family describe me as patient, creative, responsible, and cheerful. I always try to bring positive energy and kindness to the people around me. I’m caring, patient, adventurous, and open-minded. I come from a simple, loving family my parents are farmers, and they raised us to be humble and respectful. I have one eldest sister, and I’m the youngest. My eldest brother passed away when I was seven, and my family has always been very supportive. I love learning about new cultures, exploring new places, and becoming part of a warm and loving family. In my free time, I enjoy cooking, reading, and doing outdoor activities or small adventures. One of my funny little dreams is to eat ice cream in cold weather because here in the Philippines, people usually prefer coffee in the afternoon, so I’m curious how that would feel! I also look forward to sitting around a cozy table with my host family, having laughs, sharing stories, enjoying family game nights, and maybe trying Thanksgiving food together someday.
I want to become an au pair because it’s a life-changing experience. I want to be open to different beliefs and cultures, especially the daily life in the Netherlands.I also want to improve my English, try new foods, and share my Filipino culture.

I have childcare experience with children as young as 4 months and kids aged 4 to 10 years old, including babysitting and part-time childcare. I also volunteer in our church’s Sabbath School program, helping with children’s activities, storytelling, and guiding them during programs.

As an au pair, I can offer patience, creativity, and responsibility. I’m happy to help with homework, teach basic English or Tagalog, cook simple meals, and get creative with playtime. After completing my au pair year, I will return to the Philippines to continue my personal and professional growth. I’m really excited to meet you and become part of your family. I want to become an au pair because I truly love working with children and want to experience a new culture. For me, being an au pair is a life changing opportunity. I want to be open-minded to different beliefs, cultures, and ways of life, including the daily life in the Netherlands. I’m excited to explore new traditions, values, and perspectives while sharing my own Filipino culture with my host family. I also hope to improve my English, try international and Dutch food, and learn more about daily life in your country.
