Hi! I am Jay-Ann, a 23 year old fresh graduate from the Philippines. I am a graduate of Bachelor of Arts in English Language Studies from Polytechnic University of the Philippines, one of the esteemed public university here in our country.
I have no paid childcare experience but rest assured that I am well-trained for childcare and household chores as I have two younger sister that I took care of ever since a baby. My mother needed to make a living when we were kids hence, as the oldest daughter, I had to step up and raise my sisters because my mother was a domestic helper in Saudi Arabia.
At the young age of fourteen, I put on my big sister pants and tend to my sister who were four(youngest)and eleven years(middle) old then. I received no other help in raising them. I learned to budget the allowance that my mother is sending us and do the household chores around the house.
I can still remember that back then, I have to wake up at four in morning because I have to cook food for our breakfast and food that we will have to bring to school for lunch. Then I have to bathe my four years old sister because she still don't know how to tend for herself. I have to tie their hair, prepare the lunches and snacks, and also prepare myself because I'm also going to school simultaneously. After all of the morning routine, all three of us will be going to school and we will drop off my four year old sister to the daycare center. After class at around five in the afternoon, I will cook our dinner, wash the dishes, iron our uniforms, and tutor my younger siblings for their assignments. That was my daily routine during weekdays. In the weekends, I wash our clothes, then iron it, do the groceries, clean the whole house, replace the beddings, and help my siblings do their projects for school. That was my daily routine for years.
Doing everything at the young age trained me with taking care of children and doing household chores. Yes, it may be tiring, but I love what I'm doing because I love my sisters and I am very fond of kids.
Now that they are all grown up and can already tend to themselves, I think it is now my time to
see the world. I am passionate to learn other languages, culture, and see other parts of the world. And I think that undergoing this Au pair program will let me discover myself more.
I am really excited to meet new people, especially adorable kids. I really hope to meet my host family soon. I am so excited for this new journey, and I hope you help me to make this come true.
