Dear Host Family,
I am Ellaine, a 21-year-old psychology graduate from the Philippines. If you asked me whether I have experience with children, let me tell you that, as the youngest of six siblings, I have babysat and taken care of three nieces and four nephews. But not at the same time. So, I learned to adapt different approaches to different temperaments, like knowing when to be spontaneous and when to stick to routines with what that child is used to.
Aside from those experiences, I am enthusiastic, creative, and a free spirit. I know how to make even the simplest things fun and engaging for kids. I'm also used to doing housework, although I'm not much of a cook. Maybe a little. And I would very much like to learn some recipes from your culture; that would be nice.
I would describe myself as curious, which was mainly the reason why I decided to be an au pair in the first place. So, if there's something I haven't tried, I am open to learning about and experiencing it. Another thing is that I have a lot of interests and hobbies. I can sing, play the guitar, write journals, make scrapbooks, paint abstract art, go freediving, play lawn tennis, volleyball, hike, volunteer, and do other activities I would love to explore. I empower uniqueness and rarity in everyone. I think it's because of my major or the experience that made me appreciate those extraordinary things. But yeah, that's all I could think of at the moment. If you want me to tell you more about myself, my inbox is open.
This cultural exchange program, for me, is like hitting three birds with one stone. One, getting to take care of kids since I have always admired the wonders of witnessing children's development. Second, is getting to experience and learn first hand the culture aside from my own is definitely a check from my bucketlist. And lastly, traveling to a new country. Because, why not?
And lastly, after my Au pair life is done, I plan on going further with my studies by taking a master's degree in my country, taking some training to enhance my resume, or working a 9-5. Depends on the flow of the current.
