Mabuhay to my future host family!
I hope you're having a great day! Let me start by sharing a little about myself. My name is Kent John Anthony but I go by the name Kent, and my Filipino nickname is "Kenken". I am 23 years old and I live in a small city in the Philippines called Baybay City. I was born in the last day of 1999 on October 05. I was a tourism and management graduate and I was able to continue my studies despite of financial crisis during the pandemic.
I am a product of a broken family and I belong to a family of six and it is composed of my step dad; a government street worker, my mom; a housewife, my little sister; a student who's going to college this coming August, my two younger brother; still primary school student, and me. Some of the activities that we enjoy as a family includes cooking together specially on Sundays, watching movies/tv series, and go to outings. My mom is a great cook and I'm confident that take that after her.
I like to describe myself as a bubbly, flexible and creative person. I'm the type of person who could easily make friends. I love talking to people and lend them a hand as long as I'm able. I also love doing art, such as: singing, dancing, a little bit of drawing, and also taking scenic pictures. Aside from doing art during my free time, I also enjoy watching anime and reading webtoons. Cooking and making desserts are also a hobby of mine, I always get compliments on my Filipino Spaghetti and Puto which always makes me overwhelmingly happy.
When it comes to childcare experience, I have looked after children in both formal and informal settings. I have more than 6 siblings (from different mother and father) and 10 cousins where I spent most of my time in experience in childcare and majority of them are children back then. I have babysat most of them on special occasions or whenever my aunts and uncles were away. I'm also a Godfather to 6 lovely children, which I visit almost every weekend to catch up with them and do my duty as a Godfather. I also interned during my pandemic as a child care tutor where I was given the responsibility to facilitate with their school works and activities for kids at the very young age. These jobs require a great deal of patience which I fortunately possess. For me, being around children makes me feel young and at ease because they're so carefree and free spirited that it's infectious.
As for Au Pairing, I learned about this program a year ago through my Friend. My friend applied last year and is currently au pairing in Netherlands and will be her first term last April as an au pair. This program also changed her for the better. The positive change in her is one of the main reasons why I want to pursue this path and I know that I can do this also even though I am a man and my experience will be my proof for that. I want to experience what it's like to be living in a country that's completely different from where I'm from. I did not apply right away because I still haven't got a passport that time and acquiring one was still impossible due to pandemic. Despite that, I spent that year researching about this program and I was deeply fascinated by its structure and how it gives opportunities to young people in pursuing their dreams. This program is like hitting two birds with one stone for me because I get the chance to do two of the things that I love the most and that is to travel and fully immerse myself in a different culture and art while being around children.
I expect nothing but kindness and to be welcomed by your family with open hearts. Words aren't enough to express how much gratitude I have for you. To be chosen is a huge honor because I know that you've gone through a lengthy process just to bring me into your country and I can assure you that you wouldn't be disappointed.
