Dear host family,
My name is Salet, I am 19 years old and I live in Trujillo with my family. My mother's name is Doraliza and my father's name is Alberto, both have their own business. I had a sister named Gaby, but she passed away. I have many cousins and we are a very close, sociable, and communicative family. I have a very large family and I love it. My mother has 5 siblings, and my father has 5 siblings as well, so I have many uncles, aunts, and cousins. I love children and I always like to take care of the babies in my family when their parents travel. In summer I love helping my little cousins with their summer homework, playing, and doing crafts together or going to the pool. I have always been surrounded by children. When I finished high school, I decided to study nail technician while studying English. I finished last year and I’m so happy for that because it is one more of my goals I achieved. I have always been very active and hardworking.
I like working with children because they know how to get the best out of myself, they taught me the beauty of life is to be happy and smile; and I try to teach them to do their best. It is a very rewarding job.
I started to work as an teacher aid in a school “Christian school Latinos”. I have many friends and some of them have children, so I am babysitting for them mostly on the weekends or some weekends at night.
My family and my friends say that I'm a responsible, respectful, and friendly person; furthermore, I like kids, so this year I decided to fulfill my dream of being an au pair in America. They support my decision, and they are very happy for me. I'm delighted to have the opportunity to improve my English, meet your lifestyle, your habits, and your country, which I greatly admire, and I always dreamed to know. And what better way than doing what I like. I love spending time with children and learning everything they can teach me every day. They learn a lot from us, but we learn more from them than we think; they have their own world; they only worry about being happy, they only give us pure love and affection. To me, it’s wonderful to see them growing up with us and learning, little by little, to be more independent. I have experience of caring for children from 1 month to 13 years old, girls and boys too.
In 2022 I took care of a two-year-old kid, his name is Lautaro. The experience was great. I used to wake up the child, have breakfast together, help them to get dressed, go to the park, play with his blocks or watch cartoons. Afterwards, I took care of a 1-month baby girl named Mia. who loved going to children's rides like Happy land or Coney Park, she is a smiley and playful baby, I used to prepare her bottles and her puree and fed her, she liked the apple puree and the potatoes puree.
Last summer I took care a 10-month baby boy named Luis; I had to prepare his bottles and food, fed him, and helped him to develop the skills that a baby of his age begins to learn, like turns from side to explore around, entertaining him with toys or helping him to sleep.
I consider myself a respectful and very responsible. I always give 100% of me in everything I do, I have goals and I always do my best to achieve them. About my hobbies I like play volleyball and soccer when I have some leisure time, listening to music and watching movies, traveling and learning about other cultures and ways of life, meeting new people, talking and sharing experiences, going out with friends or preparing lunch or dinner with my family or with my friends too. I like healthy eating, cooking, and trying new flavors, I love making cakes and fruit juices. I find it very entertaining teaching children how to prepare desserts. I’m a person whom you can rely on, who likes working with children and who performs her work with great dedication and commitment. Children’s well-being and education will be first because I have experience and studies, so I can help them. For me it is important to resolve difficulties the children have and to be like a “real sister” for them. I’m an active and creative person, always motivated and committed, helpful, cordial, and responsible. Furthermore, I am an open-minded person with a strong ability to recognize other people’s feelings. I am aware of my duties and responsibilities as an au pair, I am mature and reliable. Another thing because I would be a good au pair is that I can slot into a routine very fast and because. Your children would never get bored and would always have fun. They would be in the right hands. When I finished my year as an au pair, I think I will be able to speak fluent English and I will have other perspective of life, I’d would like to back to Peru and get for a good job related to my career and in the future to have my own business a salon and spa.
