Dear Host Family,
I am Danna Fhel, 27 years old, and a Filipino Citizen. I graduated Bachelor of Science in Accounting Technology in The University of Mindanao last March 2017, after that I also earned Education Units at St. John Paul II College of Davao City last March 2018. I am a motivated and detail-oriented individual offering a deep passion for kids and strong attention to safety. Besides that, I possess excellent communication and social skills.
There are four in the family, my mother is a Health worker in our small village and my father is a farmer. I had a little sister but she died last 2010 because of some health condition. My parents and I live in a small village where we are close to my cousins, so back when I’m still in college, I usually spent my weekends with my cousins. They will come to our house where we play, watch movies together and I cook for them. My parents trained me to do household chores, and they also prepared me on how to stand alone and be independent.
During my free time I love cooking, gardening, biking and travelling. During holidays, I love to go to places I haven’t been to before. I like to explore new things, such as hiking which really thrilled me because I have a fear of heights but I conquered it. I wish to see the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) and enjoy the weather and seasons in Europe, as well as to be close to nature. I am a person who prefers to be with people, but also at times I prefer to be alone.
I worked in Thailand as a Teacher Assistant for 3 years. My main duty and work responsibility was to provide high-quality physical and emotional care and assistance to my students, as well as to help in preparing instructional materials for them. Aside from that, I also helped the kids when they are eating, I served them food and ate with them to make sure that they are eating and not playing with the food. I changed their diapers and clothes, I also lead them and help them with the toilet. I also helped the kids during their nap time, I prepared their beds, and stayed with them until they fell asleep. For girls, I get to fix their hair before going home. I keep them company while waiting for their parents to pick them up, so I read them stories, or we just play. I have been working with kids of different ages since I moved to Thailand. They were 2 years old and up.
Right now, I am here in Norway as an Aupair in a lovely Norwegian family of 6. My main duties here is to prepare lunch boxes for the kids, cleaning the house, walking the dogs and cooking dinner. My host family helped me with my Norwegian course, which I'm very thankful, because now I can understand and speak more Norwegian. It has been a lovely year with this family, but sadly my 2 years contract is about to end. Prior to that I was also an Aupair in Sweden, with a lovely Swedish family of 5.
Being with the younger kids is a bit challenging, at the same time enjoyable. You get to teach them at the same time learn from them. Honestly, I learned most of my foreign words from them. That is what I like about being with kids, you can play, and enjoy the moment at the same time I get to learn something new. This experiences helped me to improve and be suitable for being an Au Pair. Not only that I increased my patience, but it also helped me to remain calm in stressful situations and to have the ability to lead kids.
I would love to be your Au pair because it has been my dream to go to places and explore different cultures. Also the program between the host families and the Au Pairs in the Culture Exchange Program really inspires and catches my attention. I am confident that I am not only suitable for the role but also believe that it would be a great opportunity for me to further grow both personally and professionally. I know that being your Au pair comes along with a responsibility and it will not always be fun and play. I expect that maybe the first couple of days will be exhausting because it is new to me, but I am sure that I will soon adapt to the new task and routine and become a great help for you. It would be easy living with me, because I am a friendly person and I do respect the fact that I am living in your house and that you may have some rules to follow. I am also flexible and trustworthy.
