Dear Host Family,
My name is Leila. I am 22 years old. I graduated last year with a bachelor’s degree in foreign philology: Korean and English languages. I would describe myself as a reliable, open minded and kind person. I really enjoy learning something new, and I am constantly looking for new learning opportunities. I can speak 5 languages: Kazakh, Russian, English, Korean and Turkish. In my free time, I love to dance. I went to the dance school for 7 years. My friends and relatives say that I am a gourmet. Because I cook very well and really enjoy the process. I am an only child, but I was never lonely. I have a nephew and niece, 3 and 6 years old, that I have lived with since they were babies and I have always helped take care of them. I have always wanted a little brother or sister. Therefore, from an early age, I always went to visit relatives to babysit their children. That is why I have experience with feeding, bathing, dressing, changing diapers, playing, reading stories, singing songs, and putting children to bed.
Currently I am Au pair in the Netherlands. I live in a family and take care of three children. 2-year-old Stella, 12-year-old Deimante and 13-year-old Alexander. Every morning I prepare lunch box for the children and help with breakfast. I keep the kids' room clean, do the laundry once a week and cook dinner in the evening. I spend most of the time with Stella. Twice a week I pick her up from kindergarten and then we play together on the playground. When host parents go out on a date on Friday evening, Stella and I have dinner together, play with toys and read books. Before going to bed, I prepare the milk and put her to bed.
At the age of 18, for the first time, I flew abroad alone to Turkey. In Turkey, I worked as a kid's animator in a large five-star hotel. I participated in mini disco, made crafts and entertained the kids. I lived there for 3 months. Traveled, and found many friends. I became more responsible and matured during this period.
In 2021, as part of my university studies in philology, I did internship period working in college as a teacher of Korean language. I taught children aged between 15 to 17 years. At first it was difficult because it was my first experience in teaching. But I quickly got used to it and learned how to properly communicate with teenagers.
During my student days, I was also a member of a volunteer organization. I went to orphanages, handed out gifts to children, sang songs, danced and played games. We did everything to make this day memorable for them.
I wanted to become an au pair because of the opportunities to get in, for boosting knowledge and experience, and for adaptability, which is a result of character development by taking these actions alone. After the program, having gained experience, I would like to work as a teacher like my mother. Also I want to get to know the American way of life as well as different cultures. I am confident that I can contribute positively to your family, and it is a wonderful opportunity for me to take care of your child.
