Dear Host Family,
I'm the firstborn in my family — the oldest grandchild, oldest niece — and that shaped me more than anything else. With a big age gap between me and the younger kids, I naturally became the one who stepped up. When parents in my family went abroad for work, I was the one holding things together at home. Caring for children isn't something I learned from a textbook first — it's something I grew up doing.
That said, I did study it too. I have a background in psychology, with hands-on experience in a psychiatric hospital, a school internship, and ongoing volunteer work at my mum's school — where I show up simply because I want to. Children have always found their way into my life, and I've always let them.
I genuinely love kids. Not in a polite, résumé way — in the way that makes me believe they carry the most honest, most human parts of us. That's something I take seriously. I want a family of my own someday, and being an au pair feels like exactly the right next step — a chance to grow, to travel, and to pour into a family that isn't mine yet but could feel like it.
