My name is Caroline. I'm 18 years old and I have been working with kids for 7 years starting at the age of 11. I have always known that I would like to work with children as my job in the future. Over the years of babysitting my love for teaching and being a part of children's lives has grown even more. I have watched many kids grow up in the palm of my hand and also made a impact in kids lives that I met later on.
For my senior project I started an afterschool program for preschoolers based on my research of the Montessori method and how outdoor, nature based learning is beneficial for young kids. The thought of leaving them is bittersweet but I am super excited for that new chapter in my life even though I will miss the kids so much. Its hard for them to grasp the concept that I will be gone that long, but I keep reminding them I will come back.
I hope that becoming an Au Pair will give me the chance to make an impact in another child's life making memories together and those little moments where they show their love for you without even saying anything. Taking care of kids has taught me to be responsible in many aspects of life and be in the moment at the same time. I love the idea of being more responsible as an adult and have felt ready for many years to begin.
