Dear Future Host Family,

My name is Shelby, and I'm a Psychology graduate from Indonesia who currently works in Human Resources. Even though my career is in HR, my interest has always been understanding people and how they grow. That's what made me choose psychology in the first place, and it's also one of the reasons why becoming an Au Pair feels like the right next experience for me.

During university, I had the opportunity to observe children's moral development in a daycare and later became a co-tester for psychological assessments for children entering elementary school. Those experiences helped me understand that every child is different, and that's something I really enjoyed. I loved getting to know each child, seeing them become more comfortable, and celebrating the little moments when they learned or accomplished something new.

I decided to apply as an Au Pair because I want to experience living in a different country, learn about a new culture, and become part of a family's daily life. At the same time, this feels like a chance to reconnect with my interest in child development, which has always been close to my heart. I enjoy learning new things, and I believe living with a host family is one of the best ways to grow while also contributing to others.

I genuinely enjoy spending time with children. I like telling stories, making DIY crafts, playing outside, or simply chatting about the funny little things that come to their minds. One of my favorite moments is when a child finally understands something after we've practiced together. Seeing them smile because they're proud of themselves makes me happy too.

From both my studies and personal experiences, I've learned that every child has their own personality and way of expressing themselves. Some children open up quickly, while others need a little more time. I know there will be easy days and challenging days, but I believe patience, kindness, and good communication can make children feel safe, understood, and supported.

Outside of work, I enjoy cooking, staying active through sports, creating DIY projects, and taking care of my three cats. I also enjoy looking for creative ideas for children's activities because I love seeing how simple games or crafts can help them learn while having fun. I think those little everyday moments are often the ones children remember most.

I know welcoming someone into your home takes a lot of trust. If I'm lucky enough to become part of your family, I'll do my best to be someone you can rely on. My work has taught me to be responsible, organized, and dependable, and I hope I can bring those qualities into your home while making your children feel comfortable, cared for, and happy.
