Hello there dear host families,
my name is Paula, I'm 25 years old and currently living in Berlin. I recently finished medical school and graduated as a doctor. Before choosing my specialty and starting residency, I still want to take some time off and go see the world. In the meantime, I am of course already working a little to pay for my bills. At the moment, I am working part-time remotely for a german company specialised in telemedecine.
Before starting university and after finishing school, I worked as an au pair for a year in Paris, France (2017). That's where I learned speaking french fluently. I took care of three children between 10 and 12 years, including making their meals every day, overseeing their homework and accompanying them to extracurricular activities. After that year, I also worked as a summer au pair during summer break. For that, I was in Copenhagen, Denmark, and took care of three children aged between 7 and 14. With them, I made a lot of excursions, we went to see museums, the aquarium, the zoo etc. as this were also their summer holidays and both parents were working. We had a really fun time together!
Besides, I also have a big family including several young children. I took care of my brothers a lot when they were younger, especially the youngest, who is 14 years younger than me, so I was in the perfect babysitting age when he was born. Now all my siblings are grown-up, but my sister now has a baby who I frequently take care of. I really love to spend time with children, whether they are still babies, toddlers or older. I like getting creative with them, explore the world, and just take care of them. I also like cooking a lot, so that often helps, too!
Of course, because of my studies, I am prepared for medical emergency situations that can always happen when being around children and have skills in (paediatric) life support.
