Hello, Dear family,
My name is Darly Arévalo, and I am 27 years old. I come from a beautiful country of gorgeous landscapes called Colombia. I currently reside in Cúcuta city, known as the "Green City" due to its lush greenery and warm climate, much like the hearts of the people who live there. The city is rich in history and bird species and has a diverse gastronomy.

I have loved art since I was a child to learn drawing; I enjoy playing the saxophone, reading and writing, which has fostered my creativity and imagination from a young age. I think this is very important since I can help children to explore creativity from a very early age. I am responsible, happy, respectful, kind, and positive. I always like to give my best. Besides, I like challenges and situations that take me out of my comfort zone and teamwork. I love travelling and enjoying everything that nature offers us.

I have a loving family, and It consists of my father, Jesús Emel, my mum, Esperanza and my two younger relatives, Jordy Jesús and María José. I grew up surrounded by love with both grandparents and although one of them has passed away, I always have the best memories of him. My family worked for many years with livestock led by my grandfather, uncles and father; they carried out a family business, teaching me the importance of love, family junction and teamwork to achieve great things during my life.

I am currently taking a training course on pedagogical principles for au pairs. I attend weekly workshops to strengthen my knowledge and acquire the best childcare tools. Additionally, I have several pedagogy courses, and during the international pandemic (COVID-19), I worked with children with Asperger's syndrome, teaching them how to express themselves through drawing. It was a wonderful experience since it encouraged me to understand children more and that the arts can also transmit what is difficult for us with words. I also took the first aid course, and my profession is a multimedia producer.

During my free time, I like to engage in different activities such as reading, drawing, writing, watching animated movies, going to the cinema, and spending quality time with my family and my beloved pet dog, Thor. I also have interests in swimming, dancing, photographing nature, and exploring different regions of my stunning country, Colombia.

"I have been working with children since I was a teenager. Being the oldest of my siblings, I had to help look after them since they were born. I have gone through every stage of their growth. Additionally, I looked after a baby for a year since he was three months old. I also looked after two girls, one four months old and the other six months old, for almost eight months. I have experience teaching preschool children in private classes, helping them reinforce their knowledge. Most importantly, teaching drawing virtually during a pandemic has been the most impactful experience of my life. It was a great challenge, but it was also rewarding. Currently, I am still teaching drawing in personalized classes."

My principal motivation for undertaking this Au Pair adventure is to continue learning. I think that children's imaginative ideas and curious questions inspire personal growth in individuals. I am excited to help care for them and watch them grow. I am thrilled to be a part of a new family and culture where I can learn valuable life skills. I have always prioritized love, respect, responsibility, and values that I learned from an early age.

Although Spanish is my native language, I have a basic understanding of English and am currently learning French. I think French is a beautiful language, and I strive every day to continue improving this language to be able to communicate in the best way possible.

My expectations for this trip are to learn more and to be able to help take care of the young ones. Additionally, I hope to establish a robust and trustworthy relationship with the family by providing reliable support in caring for the children. I'm thrilled to immerse myself in a new culture and family environment while capturing stunning photographs of the country as an Au Pair.

As a child, I developed a strong love for animals, and this motivated me to rescue many abandoned dogs and cats and provide them with caring homes. I make an effort to prioritize my physical and emotional well-being. Additionally, I hold strong beliefs in a higher power that guides us daily. I enjoy crafting and cooking, especially making desserts.
