Dear family,

I am already in the US. I have been an Au Pair in New York for two months but I had to leave my host family (see recommendation from them below). I was a math teacher in China and I have extensive one-on-one childcare experience, including caring for children with special needs. I enjoy playing basketball, cycling, skiing, and other sports; active kids are no problem! The following is a letter of recommendation from the host family.

My host father writes: "Hi, this is Tom. Jinjing has been with us for two months and he has been wonderful. Unfortunately our son's complex medical condition has taken a bad turn and we need to be alone with our family at this time. But this is not Jinjing's fault and he has been wonderful with our kids and our whole family so I want to make sure he finds a great family -- I'm happy to talk by email, text, or to answer any questions you have, just ask Jinjing for my number.

Jinjing has been looking after our 2.9-year-old daughter and our 15-month-old son; our son is severely disabled with a seizure disorder, feeding tube, etc so Jinjing's experience with kids with special needs was what attracted us initially. But he has been great with our daughter too -- he's watched and absorbed our parenting philosophy and adapted to the rhythms of our house. With our son he has been 100% responsible -- we felt comfortable having Jinjing look after him all day (including his seizure medications, without which his life could be in danger, and which change from week to week) -- and very caring. With our daughter he was involved and engaged when we wanted him to be, and hands-off when we wanted that. (With Jinjing she now gets up, brushes her own teeth without supervision, and gets herself dressed, which she won't even do with me!) With my wife and me he has been generous and sharing, including staying up to make us hot pot late one night when we got some very bad news. He's diligent, caring, and responsible, and we couldn't have asked for more."
