Hello, dear family,

It’s a pleasure to introduce myself! My name is Ana Carolina, and I’m very excited about the possibility of getting to know you and perhaps becoming part of your daily life starting in September 2025.

I graduated in Spanish and Portuguese Philology and I’m also a teacher of both languages. I hold a Master’s degree in Linguistics, and I have had an intense academic journey: during my university career, I won awards, published articles and books, all before turning 23. I entered university at 17 and graduated at 21, and I completed my Master’s at 23. My research focuses on audiovisual translation and discourse analysis, and my future goal is to return to the academic environment to pursue a PhD, expanding my studies to include Germanic languages.

My au pair experience began in Austria in March 2024, caring for two children (ages 3 and 6). In January 2025, I will start a new experience in Germany, where I’ll be an au pair for a 6-month-old baby. In addition, I have one year of teaching internship experience, which has given me many hours of interaction with children and helped foster their educational and social development.

I also received a scholarship from Oregon Northwest, and I recently completed a Montessori Assistant course for children aged 3 to 6.

I want to become an au pair in the United States to improve my English and, afterward, return to university to pursue my Phd. By choosing countries where German and English are spoken, I’m continuing my journey of linguistic and cultural immersion. Although I no longer work formally at a university, I still maintain contact with research groups and supervise some research assistants. Therefore, having weekends free and adhering to a set work schedule is important to me, so I can continue contributing to these projects.

I do not have a driver’s license, so it would be ideal to live in a central location where I can do everything on foot—both the children’s activities and my own. I currently reside in Germany and will begin the visa process from here, which makes obtaining the visa easier with a lower risk of refusal.

I hope to find a welcoming family with whom I can share experiences, care for the children with affection and responsibility, and at the same time grow academically and culturally.
