Dear future host family,
I am Lizeth. I’m 25 years old. I’m from Colombia. I was born in Neiva, it is a small city and very hot weather. I grew up here, the people are very helpful. I live here with my mom and my sister. My dad lives on the farm but he visits us every eight days and we always go for a walk to the river.
I have lived in Neiva all my life, I graduated from the university in 2019 with a degree in public accounting. I have worked in many positions, taking care of children, as a lawyer's assistant, accounting assistant, cashier, taking care of pets, selling desserts.
I am a responsible, disciplined person, I like to keep an agenda with my tasks to accomplish during the week, I like every moment of the day to be well spent, I am a very kind, helpful, respectful, honest person. I enjoy the moments with my family and friends. I love animals especially cats, I have 2 cats that I rescue from precarious conditions, whenever I go down the street I like to feed the animals.
I love to travel, I have traveled many areas of Colombia, that has allowed me to share with indigenous tribes, I have climbed mountains, I have gone to the paramo, I have also traveled to the cocora valley, to the coffee park, I have sailed in a canoe. I really enjoy outdoor plans, such as camping with friends, cooking with firewood. I also enjoy dancing especially Salsa Choke, the music in my life is essential, I appreciate all genres. I like to attend plays in my city, I highly value artistic manifestations in all their forms. Sundays are my special family day because it is when I cook a special recipe that I have seen on the internet, my specialty is soups, rice with chicken, spaghetti and lentils. I'm still experimenting with desserts, I love sweets, especially the flavor of arequipe and vanilla.
As for my experience with children, I remember that I have always had a great affection and need to care for children, that they feel protected, and that they learn really productive things. When I was studying at the university, on weekends I gave tutoring to a neighbor, Sofia, she was 7 years old, I was in charge of advising her with her Spanish homework, I consider myself very creative when it comes to explaining to a child any topic related to literature and try to be more visual since that is how I consider that children learn more easily. During a Christmas season I took care of 2 girls, Tatiana, 4 years old and Mariana, 6 years old, their parents worked all day, and I was in charge of their recreation since it was the holiday season, we went to the mall to play games, we watched animated movies, we made desserts or cookies. After I graduated from university and concentrated on my office work, however, I had a very clear goal of getting to know another culture, living new experiences, perfecting my English language, until one day I saw online for the first time about it. Au Pair program and I knew that it was my ideal program because it includes what I like the most and that is the care of children, it seems to me an adorable experience, unique that I would like to live next to a welcoming family. In this way I began to perfect my preparation, I started working at the school in 2021, there I organized the game rooms, advised the children with their homework, we had relaxation hours, I gave snacks, we did reading writing workshops , hours of drawing, creative writing for children to express their ideas, among many other activities.
I currently take care of a 14 year old minor, Adriana, she is a girl who needs support in her homework, I take care of her only on Saturdays, while her mother does psychological practices in the communes, Adriana is under my responsibility, I prepare her breakfast and lunch, I do a general cleaning of the house, when Adriana doesn't have much homework we go out somewhere, either to the pool, or we go to the mall to buy things like earrings, necklaces, bracelets, or we just stay in case we do some craft, Adriana has been teaching me to play chess, she is a very intelligent and applied girl, I think we can learn a lot from children.
It is worth mentioning that since I got my driver's license I have been practicing every eight days, I usually drive not only around the city but to the surroundings, to the towns, which is why I would be a great option if you need to transport your children somewhere.
The reason why I have decided to undertake this adventure is to have the pleasure of traveling to another country, living in a family atmosphere, perfecting my language, and at the same time working on something that I am passionate about, which is children.
I feel very excited to know you better and to be a member of your family, especially because I am someone who adapts very quickly and I’m very receptive to new experiences.
