Introduction
Although I have never officially worked as an au pair, I have extensive experience working closely with children in a professional setting. For the past two summers, I worked as a full-time teacher’s assistant at a special education elementary school, supporting children ages 4 to 10 with varying levels of autism and learning needs. Furthermore, I regularly do local babysitting for families in my community, caring for children of different ages.I am a very relationship-oriented person, and having strong, meaningful bonds with my friends and family means the world to me. I am positive, enthusiastic, and always try to find the good in each day. Most importantly, I am caring and responsible in both my personal and professional life. In my free time, I enjoy staying active and spending time with friends and family. My family and I often take our dogs to our local beach and enjoy long walks by the water. During the summer, we love hiking and exploring new scenic trails, and in the winter, we frequently go skiing throughout the East Coast and occasionally in Canada. I grew up playing sports, so staying active has always been an important part of my life. I also occasionally enjoy cooking and experimenting with new recipes from different cultures. I love trying new things, learning from new experiences, and stepping outside of my comfort zone. I consider myself an easy-going, adaptable, and open-minded person who enjoys making the most of every opportunity. After my time as an Au Pair, I plan to continue my university/graduate school studies and work toward earning my doctorate in occupational therapy, with a focus on pediatrics. This experience will help me grow in independence, cultural understanding, and childcare skills, which will be valuable in my future career. My goal is to use what I learn during this program to become a compassionate, knowledgeable professional who makes a meaningful difference in children’s lives!
