Dear Host Family,

My name is Katie, and I’m so excited about the opportunity to become your au pair! Thank you for taking the time to get to know me. I’d love to share a little bit about who I am, why I want to become an au pair, and what I hope to bring to your family.

I’m 22 years old, from the United States, and recently graduated with a degree in business. Alongside my studies, I’ve always enjoyed spending time with children and helping out with families in my community. I consider myself to be caring, responsible, and positive, and I truly value creating a safe, happy, and supportive environment for kids to grow.

Why Au Pairing Appeals to Me:
Becoming an au pair combines two of my biggest passions: cultural exchange and childcare. I love the idea of experiencing daily life in a new country, learning local traditions, and sharing parts of my own culture in return. Traveling to Europe has always been a dream, and being able to do that while forming meaningful bonds with children and supporting a family makes it the perfect opportunity. I already have plans to au pair for a family in Italy in April 2026 for three months, and I’m excited to continue my journey by finding a new family afterward to grow with and support.

Personality & Hobbies:
People describe me as kind, optimistic, and easy to get along with. I like to stay positive and enjoy both spending time outdoors—like walking, exploring, or going to a park—and relaxing at home with a good movie or music. I also enjoy photography, baking, traveling, and learning languages (I know a little Japanese!). I love discovering new cultures, trying new foods, and picking up skills wherever I go. My family is outgoing and supportive, and while I can be a bit introverted at first, I warm up quickly and love connecting with others.

Experience with Children:
I enjoy being around children of all ages, whether that’s helping with homework, keeping up with daily routines, or simply spending time playing and laughing together. Some of my favorite activities include taking kids out to the park or somewhere new and fun, doing creative play (like Legos, crafts, or games), and making sure they always feel engaged and cared for. I believe in discipline that’s calm and constructive—things like short time-outs when needed and, most importantly, explaining why something is wrong so kids can learn and grow from the experience.

What I Hope to Find in a Host Family:
I hope to find a family that feels like a home away from home—warm, kind, and open to sharing their culture and daily life with me. In return, I’d bring energy, care, and reliability, supporting your routines while making sure your children feel happy, safe, and loved. I’d love to be someone you can count on for childcare, light housework, or errands, always keeping the kids’ well-being first. I also value having my independence and off time respected, while staying flexible and open to my host family’s needs.
