Introduction

Dear Host Family,

Hello! My name is Asante and I’m a warm, caring, responsible and patient person with a genuine love for children. I’m excited to combine my love for childcare with experiencing a new culture, building meaningful relationships and becoming part of a family’s everyday life.

My experience with children goes beyond looking after younger relatives. I have volunteered at a kindergarten where I supported young children in an early-learning environment and took part in their daily activities. I enjoyed interacting with them, playing, helping with activities and creating a warm environment where they could feel safe, comfortable and encouraged to learn. This strengthened my patience and taught me the importance of giving children attention, encouragement and space to express themselves.

I have also worked as an assistant teacher at a local school, which gave me experience supporting children in a structured learning environment. This taught me that every child is different. Some are naturally confident, while others need more encouragement to participate. I learned to be attentive, flexible and understanding, and I loved celebrating their achievements and seeing them grow.

Alongside these experiences, I have helped care for and babysit younger children in my family. This has given me experience with everyday childcare, including keeping children entertained, helping with activities, preparing simple meals and snacks, supporting routines, playing games and making sure they feel safe and cared for.

One of my favourite things about spending time with children is finding ways to make ordinary days exciting. I would happily read stories, draw, do crafts, bake, play games, dance, go for walks, help with homework or create activities around their interests. I want children to feel that I am genuinely interested in them, not simply there to complete a responsibility.

At the same time, I understand the importance of routines, boundaries and consistency. I would respect your parenting style, household rules and expectations and support what you have already established. I hope to become a trusted, dependable person your children can feel comfortable with and rely on when you are not around.

I understand that welcoming an au pair into your home requires trust, so communication, respect and honesty are very important to me. I would take time to understand your family, routines, your children’s personalities and what you need from me. I would rather ask questions and communicate openly than make assumptions.

What excites me most about being an au pair is the cultural exchange. I don’t want to experience another country only as a tourist. I want to experience everyday family life: sharing meals, learning traditions, discovering new places, understanding different perspectives and creating memories. I would also love to share Zimbabwean culture with your family through our food, music, traditions, stories and the little things that make home special to me.

I’m also excited about learning from your children. Children have such a unique way of seeing the world, and I believe childcare is a two-way experience. I want to listen to their stories, answer their questions, encourage their interests, celebrate their achievements and make them laugh. I hope they remember me as someone who made them feel safe, supported and happy.

As a person, I’m friendly, dependable, adaptable, enthusiastic and willing to learn. I enjoy travelling, swimming, music, spending time with family and friends, and trying new experiences.

I believe one of the most important things an au pair can give a child is a sense of security. I want to be someone who shows up with patience, listens when they need to talk, notices when something is wrong and encourages them when something feels difficult. I want them to know they are cared for and that their feelings matter.

I would love to share the little routines that make family life special: school mornings, story time, family meals, outings and celebrations. I understand that some of the best memories come from ordinary moments spent laughing, learning and talking together.

I know childcare can be challenging, and I’m prepared to stay calm, patient and positive. I also understand that being an au pair means being considerate of the entire household and respecting the family’s boundaries.

Ultimately, I’m looking for a family where I can feel welcomed while giving your children the care, attention and the care and energy they deserve. I want to become a memorable part of their lives and a welcome addition to your family.

If you’re looking for someone who genuinely enjoys being around children, values family, is eager to learn and is excited about cultural exchange, I would love the opportunity to get to know you. ?? I’d love to hear about your family and children, and tell you more about myself and my home in Zimbabwe.

I hope we get the chance to meet soon to create memories together!??
