Dear Host Family,

Hello! My name is Dorcas, but most people call me Elsie. I am a young woman from Nigeria, and I am very excited about the opportunity to become an au pair and hopefully become part of a wonderful host family.

I would describe myself as caring, responsible, patient, friendly, and open minded. I enjoy being around people and I especially love creating a warm and positive environment for children. I understand that being an au pair is not just about helping with childcare and household routines; it is also about being someone the children can trust, learn from, and feel comfortable around.

One of the things I am most excited about is the cultural exchange aspect of being an au pair. I would love to learn about your family’s culture, traditions, food, language, and everyday life. At the same time, I would be happy to share my Nigerian culture, teach your children some Nigerian words, prepare Nigerian meals, and tell them about my country and traditions.
Most importantly, I am looking for a host family where there is mutual respect, good communication, kindness, and understanding. I know that every family has its own routines and expectations, and I am willing to learn and adapt while also communicating openly when something is unclear.
Outside of childcare, I enjoy cooking, travelling, reading, fitness and running, and theatre. I am also passionate about working with young girls and women through a community initiative I founded, where I support and encourage young girls through mentorship and educational activities. These experiences have taught me patience, communication, responsibility, and the importance of being a good role model.

After my au pair experience, I plan to continue building my education and career. I am interested in furthering my studies, particularly in areas connected to hospitality, tourism, international relations, and working with people. I also hope to continue developing my skills and gaining international experience that will help me become more independent and professionally prepared.

I hope to build a genuine relationship with my host family and create wonderful memories together. I would love for this experience to be more than simply living and working in another country. I hope to become a trusted member of your household, someone your children feel comfortable with, and someone you can rely on.
