Introduction

Dear Future Host Family,

Hello! My name is Mary, I am 25 years old, and I am from Ruiru, Kenya. Thank you so much for taking your time to read my profile and my introduction letter. I am writing this letter with an open and sincere heart.

I am a warm, calm, patient, respectful, honest, and responsible young woman who loves children deeply. My family and friends describe me as cheerful, hardworking, caring, and very mature when it comes to taking care of children. I am a non-smoker and I live a clean and respectful lifestyle. I grew up in a loving and close family in Kenya where I was taught the most important values: honesty, respect for others, helping each other, hard work, faith, and good communication. These values are part of who I am and I bring them into every family I live with.

I love children with all my heart. Their laughter, their honesty, and their pure energy make me so happy every day. I truly believe that being an au pair is not just a job. It is a big responsibility and a beautiful opportunity to love and protect someone else's children as if they were my own. I want to be a big sister to your children, someone they can trust, laugh with, and feel safe with.

I have two years of experience in childcare with children from three to nine years old. I have worked with families in my community in Ruiru taking care of one to three children at a time. My daily duties have included morning routines such as waking the children, brushing teeth, dressing them, and preparing healthy breakfast. I take children to and from school and daycare safely. I plan fun and educational activities such as reading storybooks, doing crafts, drawing, singing songs, playing in the park, riding bicycles, and playing learning games. I help with homework with a lot of patience and I explain things in a calm way. I cook healthy meals and snacks for children, I help with bath time, and I handle bedtime routines including reading and putting them to sleep peacefully. I also do light housework related only to the children such as tidying their rooms, organizing their toys, doing their laundry and ironing, and cleaning up after their meals and play. Safety is always my first priority. I always watch the children carefully and keep their environment safe and clean. I am very patient even when children are crying or having a difficult moment. I know how to listen, comfort, and calm them with love.

I have also done occasional evening babysitting so that parents can have some private time. I am very reliable and parents have always trusted me because I am honest, punctual, and I communicate openly if anything happens. I know how to set loving and clear boundaries and I am consistent but never harsh.

I have chosen the Netherlands specifically because I admire your country so much. I love the Dutch culture of gezelligheid, openness, equality, and family values. I love how Dutch people are direct but kind, and how children are raised to be independent but also loved and respected. I want to learn the Dutch culture ,experience real daily family life in the Netherlands. I also want to share my own Kenyan culture with you, teach your children some Swahili songs, and maybe cook some Kenyan food for you.

What I can offer to your family is reliable and loving childcare for up to thirty hours per week and a maximum of eight hours per day according to Dutch au pair rules. I am flexible and I can help in the mornings, afternoons, and some evenings and weekends for babysitting when you need it. I can do light housework related to the children and I always keep the house tidy and respectful. I will treat your home with respect and follow your house rules. I am willing to stay for twelve months to give your children stability and time to build a strong bond with me. I am willing to attend Dutch language school and to integrate fully. I am good with public transport and I am eager to learn to cycle. I am also happy to travel with your family during holidays if you wish.

What I hope to find is kind, respectful, and communicative host family who will welcome me as part of your family and not only as an employee. I hope for open and honest communication where we can talk about everything. I hope for my own private and comfortable room, healthy food, free time with at least two days off per week, and pocket money according to Dutch law. Most importantly, I hope for mutual respect, trust, and kindness.

I am very excited to meet you and your children through a video call and to see if we are a good match for each other. Please feel free to ask me any questions about me, my experience, or my personality. I am open and I will answer honestly.

Thank you again from the bottom of my heart for reading my letter. I put a lot of love into writing it. I hope to hear from you very soon and hopefully to meet you in the beautiful Netherland.

With much love and warm hugs from kenya

Mary
