Introduction
My name is Mary Wanjiku and I’m 28 years old. I’m taking the opportunity to introduce myself and hopefully become part of your family.
I have been around children and have practical experience caring for them. I helped raise and care for more than seven nieces and nephews and before that,I was often around my cousins and my friends’ kids. So caring for children is not completely new to me. What I understand is that every child is different. I would take the time to learn your children ,their personalities, routines, needs, likes, dislikes and what makes them feel comfortable. And if there is ever something I’m unsure about, I believe in asking for help rather than pretending I know everything.
For me, being an au pair is about being someone the family can rely on. It means making sure the children are safe, cared for, supported and happy and also help the household run smoothly. I’m naturally someone who likes to make sure things are taken care of and that nothing important is overlooked.
When I’m given a responsibility, I want to understand what is expected of me, do it properly and keep improving. If someone gives me an opportunity, I want to make the most of it and give my best.
I speak English, Swahili, and my mother tongue. I don’t currently speak another foreign language, but I’m very open to learn. I believe that when I set my mind to something, I’m committed to learning and improving.I also have a recently obtained driving licence, which I understand can be an important requirement for an au pair.
Professionally, I have experience in customer service and retail, as well as marketing. More recently, I completed training in Healthcare Assistance and caregiving. These experiences have taught me patience, responsibility, communication, attentiveness and how to work with different people.
I know becoming an au pair would also be a learning experience for me. I’m not coming into your home believing I know everything. I’m coming willing to listen, learn your family’s way of doing things, communicate when I need guidance, and become someone you can genuinely trust.
I would love the opportunity to care for your children or who i will be caring for , experience your culture, contribute positively to your home, and become part of your family’s daily life.
