Dear Host Family,

My name is Esther, and I’m from Kenya. I’m someone who naturally enjoys being around children and being involved in the little things that make their day better. I’m the firstborn in a family of eight children, so I grew up surrounded by younger siblings and learned from an early age what it means to be patient, helpful and involved in family life. During college, I also worked at a daycare caring for children from around 3 months to 4 years old, and I currently care for two girls aged 5 and 7, helping them with meals, bathing, homework, playtime and their daily routines. These experiences have made childcare something I genuinely enjoy rather than simply a responsibility.

I would love to become an au pair because I want to experience family life in another country in a meaningful way, not just visit as a tourist. I’m excited about getting to know a family’s traditions, routines and way of life while sharing my Kenyan culture with them. I enjoy simple cooking, music, dancing, cycling, walks, drawing and keeping active, and I would love to find fun ways to share these interests with the children. I’m also happy to help with light household tasks and contribute to keeping the home organized. What I hope for most is to build a genuine connection with my host family and the children, where I can be trusted, helpful and comfortable enough to become part of their everyday life while also growing through the experience myself.
