Introduction
my name is Lisa, I'm 19 years old and from Germany. I recently graduated from a vocational high school with a focus on Social Studies, where I studied subjects such as pedagogy and psychology. This also sparked my interest in child development, human behaviour and the way people interact with each other.
I grew up in a small village in Brandenburg with my five brothers – one younger and four older – so being around children and helping to look after them has always been a natural part of my life. Growing up in the countryside also meant that nature and spending time outdoors were a big part of my childhood.
I would describe myself as calm, thoughtful and caring. I'm naturally more introverted, especially when meeting someone for the first time, but I still enjoy getting to know new people and becoming part of a new environment. I tend to listen carefully and think before I speak, and I care a lot about the wellbeing of the people around me. I'm patient, friendly and considerate, and I try to understand different needs and make sure everyone feels respected and included.
Although I haven't worked as a professional nanny yet, I have gained practical childcare experience through my family, a babysitting course, First Aid training for children and infants, and a four-week internship at a kindergarten. During my internship, I worked with children of different ages, including children under one year old. I helped with everyday routines, meals, hygiene and activities, and spent a lot of time playing and interacting with the children. This taught me how important it is to see each child as an individual, as every child has their own personality, needs and way of communicating.
I'm also a very creative person and love painting, crafts, photography and playing the piano. In my free time, I enjoy fantasy books, video games and being outdoors. I especially enjoy creative activities with children, and during a school project I even created my own board game to teach young children about nature in a fun and playful way.
German is my native language, and I speak English at a very high level. I have studied English for around 13 years, including three years at advanced level, where I consistently achieved very good grades. I feel very comfortable communicating in English and I'm excited about using it in everyday life while living with an English-speaking family.
My motivation for becoming an Au Pair is not only to gain more practical experience with children, but also to become part of a family and experience everyday life in another country. I would love to build a trusting relationship with the children, be someone they can rely on and support them with their routines, learning, play and activities. At the same time, I'm looking forward to becoming more independent, experiencing Irish culture and meeting new people.
Another important part of my plans is my future education. I would like to study Psychology, as I'm particularly interested in human behaviour and how people think and interact with each other. Since I currently don't have the financial means to start my studies, working as an Au Pair would also allow me to save money for my future education while gaining valuable personal and work experience.
I'm looking for a host family where we can have an open and respectful relationship. I'm happy to adapt to your family's routines and way of doing things, and I would love to become a reliable part of your everyday life. At the same time, I believe that clear communication, mutual respect, personal boundaries and enough private time are important when living together. I hope to find a family where we can communicate openly, support each other and create a positive experience for everyone.
I would be very happy to get to know you and your family, hear more about your everyday life and hopefully become a part of it. I'm looking forward to meeting you!
Best wishes,
Lisa
