Hi! My name is Kasja, I’m 21 years old, and I’m half American and half German. I grew up in the United States until I was 11 years old, and then my family moved to Germany, where I have lived for the past ten years. Growing up between two cultures has shaped me into a very open-minded, curious, and adaptable person, and has given me love for new cultures.

I am also the oldest of ten children, which has probably had the biggest influence on the person I am today. Being surrounded by so many younger siblings has taught me from a very young age what it means to be responsible, patient, helpful, and caring. I have always been around children, and being with kids feels very natural to me. I genuinely enjoy spending time with them, playing with them, helping them learn new things, and simply being part of their everyday lives. I think that is one of the main reasons why becoming an au pair feels like such a natural fit for me.

Growing up in such a big family has also taught me how to handle chaos! Our house was rarely quiet or boring, and I learned how to stay calm and keep a clear head even when several things are happening at once. I am used to taking responsibility, solving little problems, and making sure things get done. At the same time, I have learned that chaos does not always have to be stressful. Sometimes it is where the funniest and most memorable moments happen.

A big part of my personality is that I am very adaptable. I have moved around many times throughout my life and attended many different schools, which meant constantly meeting new people and getting used to new surroundings. Because of this, I usually find it easy to connect with people and feel comfortable in new environments. I am a fast learner, open to new experiences, and I don’t get overwhelmed easily when things don’t go exactly as planned.

One thing I would really love to bring into my host family’s home is a lot of joy and positive energy. I love making everyday life fun, even when it is just an ordinary day at home. I love music, dancing, singing, cooking, being creative, and doing crafts. I am the kind of person who would happily turn a rainy afternoon into a little dance party in the kitchen, bake something together, make a craft, or come up with a fun game.

Of course, I also understand that being an au pair comes with a lot of responsibility. I know that children need structure, routines, boundaries, and someone they can rely on. Schoolwork needs to be done, meals need to be prepared, schedules need to be respected, and sometimes a child simply needs someone to be patient and calm when they are having a difficult day. I am ready to take those responsibilities seriously, and I am comfortable handling pressure. I just like to find a way to make days a little brighter, especially when it’s been a difficult one.

Outside of spending time with children, I love being outdoors. I enjoy long walks, hiking, spending time in nature, and going to lakes. I also love anything involving music, whether that means listening to it, singing, or dancing. Cooking is another big passion of mine, and I especially enjoy cooking for other people.

I am really excited about the idea of becoming an au pair because I don’t just want to travel to Ireland. I want to actually experience life there and become part of a family. I would love to build a genuine relationship with my host family, get to know their way of life and culture, and hopefully become someone their children feel comfortable with and can trust. At the same time, I hope to share a little bit of my own American and German background with them.
