Introduction

Dear Host Family,
Hello! My name is Syra Mae and I’m very happy to have the opportunity to introduce myself to your family. I’m hoping to find a kind, welcoming, and genuine host family where I can become part of the family, build a meaningful connection with the children, and create wonderful memories together.
I have always enjoyed being around children because I love their energy, curiosity, honesty, and the little things that make them special. For me, taking care of children is not simply about watching them or making sure they are safe. I believe it is also about being someone they can trust, talk to, laugh with, and feel comfortable around. I enjoy spending time with children through simple activities such as playing games, drawing, reading stories, helping with homework, going outside, or simply talking about how their day went.
I would describe myself as patient, caring, responsible, and easy to be with. I understand that every child has a different personality, routine, and way of expressing themselves, so I try to be patient and understanding rather than expecting every child to behave the same way. I’m also someone who believes that communication is very important, especially when living with a host family. I’m always willing to listen, learn, and understand your family’s routines, expectations, and parenting style.
One of the things I’m most excited about with being an au pair is the opportunity to experience family life in another culture. I would love to learn about your traditions, food, celebrations, daily routines, and way of life. At the same time, I would be happy to share my own culture with your family. I think one of the most beautiful parts of being an au pair is that it is not only about traveling to another country—it is about creating a real connection with people and learning from each other.
I know that welcoming an au pair into your home is a big decision. You are not simply choosing someone to help with childcare; you are welcoming a new person into your family and trusting them with your children. I truly value that trust, and I would do my best to make you feel comfortable and confident having me around your children.
I’m also willing to help with the everyday responsibilities that come with being part of a household. I understand that keeping things organized and helping with child-related tasks are important parts of the au pair experience. I’m happy to help prepare simple meals for the children, keep their play areas organized, assist with their routines, help them get ready for school, and make sure they have what they need throughout the day. I also understand the importance of respecting the difference between helping with family-related tasks and being treated as household staff. I hope to have a healthy and respectful relationship with my host family where everyone communicates openly.
When it comes to children, I believe that small moments can mean a lot. A child remembering a funny game we played, being proud after learning something new, feeling better after having a difficult day, or simply knowing that someone is there to listen can be very meaningful. I would love to be that positive and dependable person in your children’s lives while I am with your family.
I also hope to become more independent and grow as a person through this experience. Living away from home and adapting to a new environment may come with challenges, but I see those challenges as opportunities to learn. I’m prepared to step outside my comfort zone, learn from mistakes, and adjust when necessary. I don’t expect everything to be perfect all the time. What matters to me is that we communicate honestly, respect one another, and work together when something needs to be improved.
During my free time, I enjoy playing badminton, chess, or watch movies. I would also love to discover new hobbies and activities with your family. Whether that means going for walks, visiting local places, cooking together, watching a movie, or joining in family activities, I’m open to experiencing new things.
I would especially love to find a host family where I can feel included and where we can have a relationship based on mutual respect and understanding. I don’t expect to be treated exactly like a family member from the first day because I know that building that kind of relationship takes time. However, I hope that as we get to know each other, I can become someone your family feels comfortable relying on and someone your children genuinely enjoy having around.
I’m also very open to learning your family’s routines and adapting to the way you do things. I understand that every family is different, and I don’t want to come into your home assuming that my way is the only way. I would rather ask questions, observe, learn, and find a routine that works well for everyone.
Most importantly, I want my time as an au pair to be meaningful. I want to be able to look back and know that I made a positive difference in your chi
