Dear future host family
I am Jessica Tatiana Mesa Acosta. I am 21 years old. At this moment, I am finishing my university degree. I study finance and international trade. For a long part of my life, I lived in a small town called Susacón. Most of the years there, I lived with my maternal grandmother because I had to take care of her. Years later, I had to live alone in the city of Sogamoso, where I currently study my university degree. Being far from home has allowed me to grow as a person, adapt to different environments and situations that may arise in life. Thanks to that, I am now a patient, responsible person, and able to live with diverse people from different places. In my daily life, I am an efficient, responsible, and very proactive person. I like to spend time with my family and friends, enjoying life with them. In my free time, I like to go for walks, watch sunsets, and discover new places. I also enjoy sitting down to read a good book and spending time in peaceful environments. Additionally, I really like to exercise, listen to music, and watch movies. In the last 5 years of my life, I have been very involved in taking care of children because I dedicate my vacations and most of my free time to it. I have a 5-year-old cousin whom I have taken care of since she was born. I was responsible for most of her activities like changing her diaper, bathing her, feeding her, putting her to sleep, etc. At this moment in my life, I still spend a lot of time with her. Every time I can visit her, I do so because she lives in Bogotá. When we are together, I always take her to the park, we play, dance, and make fun videos because she loves them. Thanks to all that, I discovered my love for children and for taking care of them, and my great ability to do so, because I always do it with the best attitude but, above all, with a lot of responsibility. Whenever I have the opportunity, I take care of children. Normally, I work taking care of my neighbors' children in the town. I like to spend time with them, create fun things, do crafts, paint. Children teach me new things every day and show me how beautiful life is. From this experience of being an Au pair, I expect many things. The main one is to have the opportunity to share and live a new cultural experience, to immerse myself in it, in its cuisine, its people, its places, its knowledge, but above all in its language. I want to have the possibility to strengthen and improve my level of English, and this will be possible thanks to sharing, living with, and learning from the children and the host family. I want to be an Au Pair because I want to learn the language, get to know the United States, which is such an important country full of many possibilities and opportunities to live. It's a great joy to fulfill this dream thanks to the chance to do something I love and that makes me happy, like taking care of children. After this experience as an Au Pair, I plan to return to my home country of Colombia to finish my university degree. I look forward to sharing the knowledge I've gained there with my family, friends, and the children close to me. My personal reasons are, initially, to grow in different aspects of life, especially in personal and academic ones. Being an Au Pair will allow me to expand my knowledge, which will help me have more opportunities when I enter the job market. Personally, it will help me improve and grow as a person.
