Dear future host family

I am Juanita Maldonado Falla, I’m 21 years old, I’m Colombian, I was born in Bogotá and now I live in Chía, a city very close to Bogotá. It is very nice to live here since it is a much smaller city compared to the capital (Bogotá), it has many parks and green areas full of horses and other animals that make this city much calmer and more pacific. I live with my parents; my father's name is Marco and my mother's name is Abelia. The three of us do different activities together, we go out to eat at new restaurants, go to the movies when there are funny or scary movies, we love barbecues on weekends with family or friends, we love traveling together throughout Colombia and to other places in the world, we go to all the amusement parks, and we like to get to know new cultures.

I am a bachelor and at this moment I’m studying psychology, I always wanted to go to another country to learn a new language, that’s very important for me. I know that this experience will provide me with great learning, especially to be more responsible in my life and in my actions. At school I did very well because I always liked being part of the logistics of the events in which I participated. I did activities at school such as barbecues, sports competitions, a United Nations model, events for the festivities and in all these activities I always led the logistics since I like to give many ideas and I rely on other people to execute them.

The United States has always been a destination that I love to visit, because of its culture and its people. I love languages and I had the opportunity to leave a school where they taught me English and French; I even had an intensive course in German, but I would like to perfect all my languages by going to countries where I can speak and practice them. I think that languages are a very useful tool in the life of any person. Now that I study psychology, I realize that there are many authors from different parts of the world that I have been able to read thanks to the fact that I know languages other than Spanish, there is a lot of knowledge that we don't know just because we don't know each other's language and I don't like to feel that, for that reason I am passionate about learning new languages and being able to expand my knowledge thanks to them.
Being an Aupair is an experience that would help me practice and improve my language and make me responsible not only for myself, but also for children who are going to need my help. I have great expectations with this cultural exchange because I know it will be an unforgettable experience where I will grow personally, and it will give me tools to improve various aspects of my life.

I have had a lot of experience with children, and it is a job that I am passionate about. I love sharing with children, I have the willingness and attitude to play, do homework, prepare delicious and healthy food for myself and those around me, I adapt very well to circumstances, and I listen carefully to the recommendations that they give me so that there is good communication.

All my life I have practiced sports because I love to be in constant movement, I have practiced swimming, skating, tennis, basketball, and I like to go to the gym too. I enjoy being outdoors, I love going for a walk and discovering new places, I like taking photos, reading, playing board games, traveling, participating in activities of any kind and meeting people who teach me new things.

I have been a volunteer in different organizations where I was able to work with many children of different ages. Each stage of the children has taught me how to treat them and what activities I can do with them. I like to do activities outdoors and indoors since sometimes it rained, and I would have to do activities indoors. I was part of the speech therapy group in an organization where they taught me to treat children from various perspectives since each child is a different world, but there are behavior patterns that can be managed to have a good environment and helped me to be able to help them with what they need.

I do various tasks in my house since there are only three of us, we must help each other and maintain a clean and orderly environment. I love having my bed made and that is why this is the first action I do in the day. I do the laundry every time the laundry basket is full, I wash the dishes, occasionally I vacuum the house, I wash the bathrooms and I try to pick up the things I use as soon as I finish using them.
