Dear Host Family,

My name is Emily, and I am a 17-year-old student from Northern Ireland who will be 18 by summer 2027. I am currently completing my A-levels in Religious Education, Maths and Economics, and after finishing school I am hoping to study Criminology at university. I am an outgoing, responsible and caring person, and I really enjoy meeting new people, travelling and experiencing different cultures. I have also always enjoyed spending time with children and helping others learn.

I would love to become an Au Pair & Live-in Tutor because I think it would be an amazing way to experience another culture while doing something meaningful. Rather than simply visiting another country as a tourist, I would love the opportunity to become part of a family, experience everyday life together and build a genuine connection with the children. I am particularly interested in helping children develop their English in a way that feels enjoyable and natural, whether that is through conversations, reading, games, creative activities or simply speaking English during everyday life. I would also love to learn about your family's traditions and way of life while sharing some of my own.

I believe I would be a good person to host because I am respectful, adaptable and considerate of other people's routines and boundaries. I understand that living with a host family is different from staying in a hotel, and I would want to contribute positively to family life rather than simply treating the experience as a holiday. I am happy to help with appropriate household tasks and childcare, and I would make an effort to fit into your family's routines. At the same time, I hope to become someone your children feel comfortable talking to, playing with and learning from.

I believe I qualify for the position because I am a native English speaker, I am responsible and organised, and I am comfortable communicating with people of different ages. My studies have also made me particularly interested in education, society and how people's experiences shape their opportunities. I would bring patience and enthusiasm to tutoring, and I would be willing to prepare activities around each child's individual interests and level of English. I am also independent and have experience travelling away from home, which has taught me to adapt to unfamiliar environments and take responsibility for myself.

Most importantly, I would genuinely value the opportunity to become part of your family. I would hope that by the end of my stay, I would not only have helped your children become more confident in English, but also have made some wonderful memories with your family and gained a deeper understanding of your culture.
