| Dear Family,
First of all, I would like to thank you for taking interest in my profile and reading my letter. I have been born and raised in Canada, more specifically London, Ontario, by the love and care of my Canadian mother and German father. I am currently a student at the University of Western Ontario majoring in Media Information Technoculture studies, and I plan on applying to law school after I complete my degree. I have heard wonderful stories from my father and Oma about Germany, especially Berlin, and have always planned on living there for at least a couple of months.
I will be twenty by the summer of 2010 and I see it as the perfect opportunity to work abroad and finally visit Germany. I have travelled Europe before to France and Spain, but did not have to opportunity to visit Germany as it had been a high school trip. I have worked with children of all ages and back grounds for many years in multiple jobs including overnight camps in northern Ontario, life guarding and swimming lessons, and volunteering and working for non-profit organizations benefiting underprivileged children in London. I am actively involved in the London community and have recently partaken in modeling in a fashion show to raise money for breast cancer. I have also worked in retail and currently work in the service industry as a waitress.
Although I have had part time jobs since I was sixteen, school has always been my top priority. I received early acceptance to the Honours Business program at my University with an entry mark of 91 percent from high school and have maintained the acceptance through my first year of University. Although I do not plan on going into business, I take pride in the accomplishment of my acceptance in such a prestigious program. I am also an athlete, focused mainly on soccer, track and field and swimming. Because of my social life, hobbies and dedication to school, I have become an extremely hard worker with excellent self discipline time management skills.
I may take pride in my education and my work ethic, but that is not the reason why I feel I would make a great au pair for your family. Working with children is one of my passions and will always be. Even though I currently no longer work directly with children, I volunteer my time to mentor at primary schools in need of a helping hand. I am very dedicated to my work and enjoy working with children even if it is not an easy job. I am a very compassionate person and combined with my enthusiasm and dedication, I would make an excellent au pair for your family. I have worked with ages ranging from young toddlers to young teenagers and am very confident in my child care skills. Due to my life guarding jobs, I have been required to complete first aid courses which have been useful for even minor situations. I support a healthy active lifestyle and would have a definite positive influence on your family. I am very easy going and good humoured and would love to be a temporary addition to your family!
Again, thank you so much for taking the time to read my letter. I appreciate your interest and hope to hear from you soon!
All the best,
Katie |
