We’re so excited to connect with you as we begin the search for the right au pair to join our family. We know how important this decision is for both of us, and we want to give you a genuine sense of who we are and what life in our home would be like.
We’re a family of four living in West Seattle, Washington near the water with beautiful views and easy access to downtown by bus. Our family includes:
• Joshua (Dad): I’m a filmmaker, working mostly from home or on location. My schedule can be unpredictable but is often flexible. I love sports and singing with my guitar.
• Rachel (Mom): A neurologist who works from home and loves coffee and going for a run by the beach.
• Our daughters:
• Lilette, age 10 — Curious, creative, and social. She loves art, reading, and biking around the neighborhood.
• Leia, 3 — Energetic, sweet, and full of personality. She loves imaginative play, music, and being outside.

We value kindness, honesty, and a sense of humor in our home. We try to keep things structured but flexible, we believe kids thrive with clear routines and room to explore. We’re looking for someone who is responsible and communicative, but also joyful, creative, and genuinely enjoys being around children.
We’ll treat you as part of our family. You’ll have your own private room and bathroom, and a schedule that allows for plenty of time to bond with the kids but also allows time off to explore Seattle and beyond. We love hosting, sharing meals, and learning about other cultures and we’re happy to support you in experiencing as much as possible during your time here.

We’ve had au pairs in the past and really value the relationships we’ve built with the people who help care for our girls.

We're looking for someone reliable, skilled, and caring to join our family.
We are the Carlin family and we are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive au pair to join us!
Where: Seattle, WA
When: By early September
Caring for: 2 girls, a 3 year old turning 4 in November and a 11 year old 5th grader.
We live near beautiful Elliot Bay in West Seattle. We are about a 10 minute walk to the nearest bus stop which is a hub that can take you all over the city.
We love to travel and explore on weekends as a family (you’re included in everything!) Additionally, every year we travel 3-5 times out of state.
We have 10 year old and 3 year old girls. The 10 year old is in school Monday through Friday during the school year and our youngest daughter (turns 4 in November) is in preschool twice a week as well. Mom works full time from home (out of sight of the kids) and Dad is a movie producer who works from home when not on set. We are looking for a teammate, not just an au pair!
We live within walking distance of public transportation which is ideal because your ability to be independent is important to us.
Must love kids! This seems obvious, but we need someone that is engaging, creative, loving, energetic, empathetic and proactive. We need an au pair that is honest, reliable, flexible and a great communicator. You must like playing with children (coloring, crafts, hide and seek, pretend play, and video games) and generally being active and interested in going outdoors is a huge plus!
Food: We eat a lot of fish and vegetables and do not eat as much meat as a typical American family, though we do enjoy it from time to time. Dad is the cook. You are welcome to eat anything we have in the kitchen and to accompany all family outings.
Requirements: Must be creative with kiddos and love to engage with them. Be comfortable doing small day to day tasks and helping to maintain a clean home (we do have a cleaning service that comes weekly). Be reliable, responsible, and communicative. We live near the water so a confident swimmer would be a plus, but not required.
Your Space: Your own room and private bathroom. The bathroom could be used by occasional guests. Your bedroom has a closet and window with a view of the sound.
Schedule: split schedule: 7AM-12PM AND 2:00PM-6:00PM on working days. Schedule is based on Mom’s work schedule as a neurologist and includes up to 2 weekends per month.
