Dear Au Pair,
If you decide that our family matches well with you, you will become part of our everyday life and culture. Our past Au Pairs have become dear friends and we keep track of them and check in to see how life is progressing. Our first two Au Pairs have both graduated from advanced degrees and are working in their fields, for example. We get to see them when we lived for six months in Germany last year. We try to divide unique opportunities through local events and culture. We will go to plays or sport events as a family and pay for the Au Pairs to join us if they wish. We love when they join us for dinner as well. We hope that our home will be a safe place away from your home beyond the contracted year that you work with us. We also hope that you’ll take home cherished memories and way more friendships than the average sized family!

Our Au Pair is primarily responsible for the youngest 3 children. The older boys are mostly autonomous except for occasional rides and for meals. Nehemiah will be the person you spend the most time with after he gets done with preschool. Then you will pick up Josiah and Anneliese. We ask that whatever mess is created during your assigned hours, you clean up. If you bake with the kids, you do the dishes. If you create a paper craft, you clean up the supplies etc. Cooking duties are generally on Thursdays for our date night. Otherwise, sandwiches, leftovers, freezer meals and snacks are what the Au Pair provides. Occasionally, we will ask for help with kid laundry or shopping if we are feeling overwhelmed. We may also ask that you let Roper (our dog) in and out of the house to avoid an accident.
