Welcome to our family! Our names are Jake and Rachel, and we have recently expanded our little family by one with the birth of Wyatt in May 2024! Settled in the Kansas City area, we are an active, sociable family in a friendly suburban neighborhood.
We are looking for an energetic, outgoing, experienced au pair to help us care for Wyatt. Rachel is on maternity leave until October but is looking to bring an au pair into the home this summer due to Jake's schedule as an airline pilot, which requires him to spend multiple days away per month. While we will care for Wyatt overnight, we would like extra help during the day. Due to Wyatt's age, experience in infant care is necessary.

Duties:
For the duration of a 12-month contract, the au pair/nanny will care for one infant and complete light housework full time. The au pair will communicate with the infant in English but is also encouraged to share her native language with the infant.
The au pair will be responsible for the infant's safety, sleep, feeding, hygiene, and entertainment during hours worked. Light housework will involve but not limited to emptying the diaper pail, keeping the nursery orderly, and washing and sterilizing bottles, among other tasks.
In summer, the au pair must be available from 9:00am-5:00pm. Beginning October 10, the au pair must be available from 6:00am-3:30pm on each weekday that she works. Flexibility with hours worked each week is important due to the husband's airline job, resulting in some weeks when the au pair may work a Saturday and/or Sunday but have one or more weekdays off. The family will communicate the schedule with the au pair on a monthly basis.
Benefits:
With a $900/month stipend, the au pair will be provided with a private bedroom and a semi-private basement entertainment area and bathroom.
We will cover the cost of meals and snacks, including meals eaten as a family outside the home. The au pair is responsible for her own meals when she goes out on her own or with friends.
We will cover the cost of personal hygiene items including toilet paper, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste & toothbrush, body soap, hand soap, feminine hygiene products, cotton swabs, etc. The au pair is responsible for purchasing any beauty items she uses (make-up, additional hair products, etc.).
We will provide a membership to our local gym that the au pair is welcome to use at her leisure outside of her work hours.
The au pair can bring and use her own cell phone. If she does not have already have a phone that can work in the US, we will provide one. The au pair will replace the phone with a model of her choosing at her own expense in the event that the provided phone is lost or breaks. If necessary, we will provide a cell phone plan that covers unlimited US talk, text, and data. Home highspeed internet is provided with unlimited data.
We will provide a bicycle for the au pair to use to navigate around the neighborhood.
The au pair may be be invited to join us for family activities around the area. If an entrance fee is required, we will pay for her entrance.
The au pair may be invited to join us on some domestic family trips/vacations. If she prefers, she may travel on her own instead when we go on vacation. We will cover travel costs if the au pair travels with us. If she travels on her own, she will be responsible for her own travel costs.
