Introduction
My name is Hannah, I am 22 years old, and I am from the United States. I am currently studying business at university, and I am looking to take a gap year before starting my career. During this time, I would love to become an Au Pair in the Netherlands and have the opportunity to experience life in another country while becoming part of a family.
I grew up in a multicultural family, as my mom is from England and my dad is American. I also spent part of my childhood living and growing up in England, so I have experienced what it is like to grow up surrounded by different cultures and ways of life. I think this has made me very open-minded and curious about the world, and it is one of the reasons I have always loved traveling, exploring new places, and learning about different cultures.
I am especially interested in the Netherlands because I love Dutch culture and would really enjoy improving my Dutch language skills. I think being an Au Pair would be a wonderful way to experience the Netherlands beyond being a tourist and to create a meaningful connection with a host family.
I would especially love the opportunity to live in or around the province of Utrecht, as I really enjoy the area and would love to experience more of everyday life there. However, I am very open to living in other parts of the Netherlands as well, and for me, finding the right family is much more important than the exact location.
I genuinely enjoy spending time with children and have two years of experience working as a daycare teacher. In that role, I cared for children every day, helped keep them entertained and engaged, and learned how to be patient, responsible, and attentive to their individual needs. My experience has given me confidence in caring for children and has taught me how rewarding it can be to watch them learn and grow.
I believe I would be a great Au Pair because I am responsible, friendly, patient, and easygoing. I also love having fun and bringing energy and creativity into everyday life. I would enjoy encouraging children to try new things, explore, be curious, and make the most of their time. I want to be someone they can have fun with, learn from, and feel comfortable around. I also really value quality family time and would love to become a genuine part of my host family’s life rather than simply feeling like an employee.
Outside of childcare, I love traveling, exploring new places, learning about different cultures, listening to music, going to concerts, trying new foods, and playing softball, which I played throughout high school. I am curious, open-minded, and always excited to meet new people and experience new things.
I hope to find a host family where we can build a strong relationship based on trust, respect, and communication. I would love to share my American and British experiences and culture with your family while also learning from you and becoming part of your everyday life.
