Introduction

1. What inspired you to become an au pair?

My family is one of my biggest reasons. I would like to have an opportunity to work abroad so I can help support my family and contribute to their needs. At the same time, I would love to experience another culture, learn from a new family, and grow personally.

2. Are you currently working?

Yes. I am currently working as a private tutor, teaching children and helping them with their schoolwork and basic learning skills.

3. How would you describe your experience with children?

As a teacher, I have experience handling children with different attitudes, personalities, and learning needs. Sometimes it can be challenging, but I have learned that working with children requires a lot of patience, understanding, consistency, and love. I enjoy helping children learn while also making them feel comfortable and encouraged.

4. What is your educational background?

I am a graduate of Bachelor of Elementary Education from Fundamental Baptist College for Asians in the Philippines. I completed my degree in 2026. I also had experience as an elementary student teacher during my education.

5. What excites you most about coming to our country?

I would be both excited and a little nervous, especially because it would be my first time living abroad. My biggest concern is making sure that everything is legitimate and that I will be safe and properly protected while I am there. If everything is properly arranged, I would be excited to see the beautiful landscapes, experience different culture, meet new people, and learn from the experience of living with a family.

6. What would you expect from me as your host?

I would hope to have a host who is kind, respectful, considerate, honest, and loving. As a Christian, I would especially appreciate a family that respects my faith and values. I would also hope to be treated as a member of the family, almost like a sister, while still understanding and respecting the boundaries and responsibilities of being an au pair.

Good communication is also very important to me. I would appreciate being able to talk openly with my host family whenever there are concerns or misunderstandings.

7. What are your likes and dislikes?

I enjoy sweets, healthy food, exercise, music, spending time with family, and sometimes going out together and bonding with the people I live with. I enjoy listening to Christian/godly music as well as love songs. I also value having some personal space and being able to communicate regularly with my family in the Philippines.

When it comes to children, I believe they need love but also proper boundaries and guidance. I would not want to be in a situation where inappropriate behavior is always tolerated. At the same time, I understand that I am an au pair and not the parent, so I would follow the parents' rules and approach to discipline and discuss any concerns with them rather than making major disciplinary decisions myself.

I also would not be comfortable with smoking or drinking around me. I don't smoke or drink alcohol myself.

I am also not a driver and I do not have a driver's license, so I would not be able to drive the family's cars.

8. Is there anything important about your wellbeing that you think I should know so that I can support you properly?

Since this would be my first time living abroad and away from my family, having good communication and a safe and respectful environment would be very important to me. I would like to be able to communicate regularly with my family in the Philippines, especially while I am adjusting to a new country.

I also value personal space, enough rest, healthy meals, and open communication when there is a concern or misunderstanding. If I become homesick or have difficulty adjusting, I would appreciate having a host family who is patient and willing to communicate with me.

My Christian faith is also an important part of my life, so I would appreciate having the freedom to continue my personal prayer and Bible-reading routine and to attend a Christian church when possible.

9. What is your favourite colour?

My favourite colours are baby pink and baby blue. ??

10. Do you drink alcohol or smoke?

No. I don't smoke or drink alcohol.
