Dear Host Family,

Hello! My name is Anne, I am 20 years old and I come from Kenya. I am very happy to introduce myself to you and to share a little about who I am, my experience with children, and why I would love the opportunity to become your au pair.

I am a warm, patient and responsible young woman who genuinely enjoys spending time with children. For me, caring for a child is not only about making sure they are safe and looked after. It is also about creating a happy environment where they feel loved, listened to, encouraged and comfortable being themselves.

My Experience With Children

I have experience caring for young children,Through this experience, I have learned that young children need patience, attention, consistency and a lot of affection.

I have been involved in everyday childcare activities such as feeding children, helping with bathing and personal care, keeping them entertained through play, helping with naps and supporting their daily routines.

I especially enjoy playing with children and finding simple activities that make them happy while also helping them learn. I like reading stories, talking to children, playing games and encouraging them to explore the world around them.

Caring for young children has also taught me to pay attention to small things. A child may not always be able to explain what they need, so I have learned to observe their behaviour, listen carefully and respond calmly.

I understand that every child has a different personality and different needs. I would therefore take time to get to know your children individually and learn the routines that work best for them.

What I Am Like With Children

I would describe myself as patient, caring and playful.

I believe children should be treated with kindness and respect. At the same time, I understand that children need boundaries and consistent routines. I would follow the rules and parenting style of my host family and communicate openly with the parents whenever I have questions or concerns.

I enjoy being involved rather than simply watching children. Whether we are playing, reading a story, doing homework, going for a walk or simply talking together, I want the children to feel that they have someone around them who genuinely cares about them.

I would also be happy to teach children about Kenya and share aspects of my culture with them while learning about their culture and traditions

I believe good communication is especially important when living with a host family. I would always try to communicate respectfully and openly with the parents so that we can understand each other's expectations and create a comfortable relationship.

Why I Want to Become an Au Pair

Becoming an au pair is something I see as much more than simply travelling to another country.

I would love to experience everyday family life in another culture, learn new traditions, improve myself as a person and create meaningful relationships with my host family and the children.

At the same time, I would love to share my own Kenyan culture with your family. I think cultural exchange is one of the most beautiful parts of being an au pair because both the au pair and the host family have an opportunity to learn from one another.

I am excited by the idea of becoming part of a family, contributing to their everyday life and creating memories together.

A Little More About Me

Outside childcare and work, I enjoy dancing, sports, watching movies and adventure.

I enjoy trying new things and experiencing different environments. I also like activities that allow me to spend time with other people rather than always being alone.

I think these interests would also allow me to connect with children in different ways. Depending on their ages and interests, I would be happy to play games, dance, enjoy outdoor activities, watch age-appropriate movies together or explore new places with them.

Am also open-minded and respectful of people who have different backgrounds, traditions and ways of doing things.
