Hi, my name is Romane, I’m an 18 years old and I grew up in Toulouse in a small house with both my parents and an older brother, not to mention my cat Patouch!

I’m half American on my mother’s side, so I’ve been speaking English longer than I can remember. Having a passion for languages encourages me to communicate with people of all cultures, and studying both English and French literature to an A-Level equivalent level has given me an intimate knowledge of their ins and outs; I’d be more than happy to give private lessons or teach some French to your children.

After graduating, I decided to continue my studies independently in Lyon, where I’ve just completed my first year certificate in human sciences (History, Geography, Latin, English & French Literature, Cinema and Philosophy) in a Classe Préparatoire aux Grandes Ecoles (CPGE).

This past year has allowed me to discover the adult world in my own way and to grow. I’ve learned a lot about living on my own,
maintaining my own apartment, doing my laundry, cooking healthy and varied meals and managing my budget, as well as countless other skills I never knew I needed.

However, pursuing such intensive studies and preparing for prestigious entrance exams (ENS), I’ve been feeling a little lost because at heart, I’m an outgoing, high-spirited person with an insatiable appetite for new experiences. I pride myself on being curious and passionate, particularly about cinema and literature - my life’s ambition would be to become a film director!

I feel at home in nature, and I enjoy hiking and running and I love to travel and discover new cultures. I’m also exceedingly proud to be a classical dancer; I took my first dance steps at the age of 3 and haven’t stopped since. By refining my movements across many schools and a wide range of teachers, I’ve picked up a strong and steady sense of discipline that altered me by making me more resilient but it also emotionally aware of people around myself, dance being also a teamwork.

I think if you asked my family what my best quality is, they’d say it was my bubbling imagination. My favourite thing is to write stories, build worlds and imagine characters to populate them. When I was 10 years old I started a school theatre club with younger children where I could express my imagination: I was asked to do improvisations, learning to adapt quickly to asigments and developing my social skills.
And I think this is why I get along so well with younger children, with whom I can share this imagination.
Overall I think it’s a mix of warmth and confidence that would make me a welcome addition to your home.

I’m so excited to spend a year in Ireland, living with a host family, and learning a new way of life, and perhaps even building a relationship that might reach beyond this experience.
