Introduction
My name is Maja. I work as a nanny, carer, and housekeeper, and I genuinely enjoy what I do. Building a good relationship with children is very important to me—I like to understand them, support them, and create a trusting, nurturing environment where they feel comfortable.
I have experience caring for children of different ages, including children with autism, as well as elderly and disabled people. Alongside childcare, I also take care of housekeeping duties and prepare meals, including cooking for special dietary requirements (allergies, intolerances, etc.).
At the moment, I volunteer at a local maternity centre, where I support playgroups for toddlers and pre-school children.
Over the past few years, I have been working as a receptionist in a holiday resort, a 4-star hotel, and a château. Before that, I worked in several live-in positions as a nanny/housekeeper/carer.
In London (summer 2019), I worked as a live-in housekeeper/nanny on a short-term basis. I was taking care of the house and helping out with three lovely children, 2 year old boy, 5 year old boy and 6 year old girl.
In Vienna, Austria (October 2015 – August 2016 and January 2017 – May 2018), I worked full-time as a live-in nanny for a diplomatic family with three children: an 11-year-old boy and 4-year-old twin boys. The twins were on the spectrum of autism (high-functioning). We formed a close bond and enjoyed our activities and daily routine.
During my time in Austria, I also helped at a Sunday Church School, mainly with children aged 1–3.
In Northern Ireland (October 2014 – January 2015), I worked as a sole-charge live-in nanny/housekeeper for a family from India. I cared for their 2.5-year-old son from morning until evening and helped with housekeeping. The family later relocated to Australia.
In Zurich, Switzerland (January 2013 – July 2013), I worked as a live-in nanny for two girls (aged 4 and 6). My responsibilities included school runs, preparing meals, helping with English, organising activities, and housekeeping.
In London (September 2011 – July 2012), I worked as a live-in nanny/housekeeper for a family with four children. I mainly cared for a 14-month-old toddler, but also helped with the older children (B3, G4, G6). My duties included school runs, meal preparation, playtime, and general childcare, as well as light housework.
I have also worked in England as a carer/housekeeper for a disabled young man, managing both his care and the household.
In 2010, I cared for an elderly lady with dementia for six months.
In 2011, I worked as an au pair in Finland, looking after a 5-year-old boy.
I studied at a bilingual English-Slovak grammar school, where most subjects were taught in English, and I hold a State Language Certificate.
In 2020, I completed a Water Rescue-Lifeguard course for wellness pools.
In addition to my professional experience, I have often looked after children of friends and family. I’ve helped at a local nursery (ages 3–5), assisted at Sunday Church School, and worked as a tutor at children’s camps for different age groups 6-18). I also have a close relationship with my nephews and niece, whom I used to babysit when they were younger and whom I enjoy spending time with when I am in Slovakia.
In my free time, I enjoy reading, watching films, visiting museums, and doing crafts.
I would describe myself as friendly, responsible, reliable, tidy, and well-organised. I am open to learning new things and adapting to each family’s needs.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Best wishes,
Maja
