Introduction
My experience in senior care comes from personally assisting my late aunt, who was in her 80s and had long-term diabetes. Over the years, I supported her in various ways, including helping administer insulin shots when she had difficulty doing it herself, checking her blood sugar levels, and accompanying her to medical check-ups. I also helped buy and organize her medications, as well as prepare meals suited to her condition.
When she became bedridden, I provided additional support, especially on my days off. This included assisting with bathing, feeding, giving medications on time, and staying up to help her sleep, as she often had trouble resting. Toward the end of her life, she underwent dialysis treatments, and I was with her throughout those sessions to ensure she had everything she needed and to offer emotional support.
Although my other aunt was her primary caregiver, I took an active role in helping whenever I could, including running errands, buying food and supplies, and being present during times of need. This experience gave me a deep understanding of the physical, emotional, and practical needs of elderly individuals, especially those with chronic conditions.
