Dear Host Family,
My name is Rahab. I am 23 years old, and I come from Kenya. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my letter and learn a little about me. I truly appreciate the opportunity to introduce myself, and I hope by the end of this letter you'll have a better idea of who I am.
I have always enjoyed spending time with children, and becoming an au pair is something I have wanted to do because it combines two things that are very important to me: caring for children and experiencing a new culture. I believe being an au pair is much more than travelling to another country. It's about becoming part of a family, building meaningful relationships, and creating wonderful memories together.
I have experience caring for children of different ages through looking after my younger brother and working as a nanny in Lebanon from 2023 to 2026. During this time, I cared for young children from infancy through their toddler years. One child was only a few months old when I began caring for him, and another child was born while I was working with the family, giving me valuable experience supporting children from the very beginning of their lives. These experiences have taught me how to be patient, responsible, understanding, and attentive to each child's individual needs. I understand that every child has a different personality, and I enjoy finding creative ways to help them learn, play, and feel comfortable.
Some of my favourite activities to do with children include reading stories, arts and crafts, singing, dancing, playing educational games, baking together, outdoor adventures, and simply encouraging their imagination. I enjoy creating a positive environment where children feel safe, happy, and confident to be themselves.
I would describe myself as a kind, responsible, organized, and open-minded person. I value honesty, respect, and good communication, and I always try to bring a positive attitude wherever I go. I enjoy learning about different cultures, meeting new people, and stepping outside my comfort zone because I believe these experiences help me grow as a person.
In my free time, I enjoy cooking, reading, listening to music, travelling, and learning new languages. I believe having hobbies helps me stay creative and brings positive energy into everyday life.
What excites me most about becoming part of your family is the opportunity to share my own culture while learning about yours. I hope to build a genuine connection with your family and become someone your children can trust, laugh with, and feel comfortable around. My goal is not only to support you with childcare but also to become a caring and dependable member of your family during my stay.
