Dear future host family,

Hello! My name is Marliana, but please call me Liana or Lily. I'm 23 years old, from Indonesia, and I'm so excited to be starting this journey to find a family to become part of.

I hold a bachelor's degree in Education and currently work as a freelance volunteer teacher, alongside part time babysitting for my nieces and nephews. Teaching and caring for children have always gone hand in hand for me. I love encouraging curiosity, celebrating small achievements, and creating an environment where children feel safe, understood, and happy.

I speak Indonesian, English, and Korean, and I'm currently learning Dutch. People close to me would describe me as calm, warm, pro active, organized yet flexible, and easy to get along with. I like staying active. I cycle regularly and love exploring new places, and I find real joy in the little things like reading a few pages of a book, trying a new recipe, or baking something sweet. Cooking and baking are genuinely some of my favorite things to do, and I'd love to share Indonesian dishes with your family while learning your traditions in return. Giving back matters to me too. I take part in volunteer events, donate blood roughly every four months, and donate my hair to a cancer foundation about once every three years. I don't smoke or drink alcohol, and I try to maintain healthy habits in daily life.

My experience with children spans many ages. I helped raise my youngest brother, now 12, from infancy to today. I cared for my cousin from his premature birth through babyhood, feeding, bathing, kangaroo care, and we're still close now that he's 13. More recently, I've grown close with my nieces and nephews, aged 1 to 4. One of them is on the autism spectrum with ADHD, and another has ADHD and attends therapy, which has taught me a great deal about patience, observation, and meeting each child exactly where they are. Across all these ages, my favorite things to do with children are reading together, baking simple treats, playing outdoors, and turning everyday moments into games.

I haven't formally worked as an au pair before, but I can honestly say I bring the same depth of experience, years of real hands on care within my own family, not just occasional babysitting. I believe that gives me a genuine head start in adjusting to life with your children.

I'm applying to become an au pair because I truly enjoy caring for children, and I believe living with a host family offers a rare chance to build real relationships while learning from one another's cultures.

After my au pair year, I hope to pursue further studies abroad, and this experience feels like a meaningful first step toward that future, as well as a chance to grow into the person and educator I want to become.
