Family's Introduction to Au Pair

We are a family of four and have continuously had wonderful nannies and au pairs to help with our care for many years. We are looking for a new care professional to join our family.
We are willing to offer a competitive weekly stipend based on skills and experience to the right candidate as well as a holiday bonus.
We live in a great New Jersey town near New York City. It takes 35-45 minutes by train to get to Manhattan (the center of New York City). Our town and surrounding neighborhoods are robust, with stores, restaurants, movies, and universities nearby. We are also less than an hour away from some great beaches here in New Jersey! During the summer we get to go to the beach.
We are looking for someone to help us run our household and keep things running smoothly for the kids. As our ideal caregiver you would:
be energetic and fun, with a good sense of humor
be responsible and organized
be a person who loves kids
be someone who does not mind light household work like shopping and tidying up after the kids
have some previous experience with young kids with high-functioning autism, or any sort of developmental delay
have a driver's license
Professional Development Opportunities:
We have a great team helping to care for our son. We have a BCBA, RBT, OT and speech therapist. All providing amazing services to our son.
As a caregiver for our family, we want you to have opportunities to develop your professional interests. Here are a few examples:
Working with our son who has developmental delays & autism you would have the chance to set developmental goals and help him grow on a weekly basis.
You would be invited to work alongside his U.S. therapists and learn from them in his weekly therapy and follow up by helping him with his therapy homework.
We would love your help in developing a weekly schedule that helps Raj be most successful.
There are excellent educational opportunities at colleges in our area and groups with free workshops about autism support such as the local Family Center for Autism where you could also volunteer.
Our family consists of Jordin (15 years old), Raj (5 years old), me (47 years old), and my husband Karan (42 years old). My husband and I both work full-time, which is the reason we need someone to look after the kids. I work as an attorney for one of the largest health systems in the state and Karan is a CFO for a mid-sized customs clearance company. We work regular business hours and are out of our home 9:30am-7/8 pm, Monday- Friday. I do have the opportunity to work from home two days a week, which tends to be Monday and Friday.
Raj has been diagnosed with Autism spectrum disorder since 18 months old. He did have speech delay and has some conversational skills. He didn't talk at 2.5 years of age. It means that he had some autistic symptoms, primarily communication, behavioral issues and social issues. Sometime, Raj can get frustrated, have some meltdowns and need support. We are working with him to use his words, be flexible and continue learning joint play and social interactions. We are working on expanding his peer to peer interactions which are currently emerging.
He receives ABA, OT and speech therapy, in school, which is 7 minutes away from our home. Those services will be provided in-home or on-site in the summer and you would be able to observe his therapies. Raj is a sensory seeking child. So he likes hugs, jumping and running, music and physical play time. He is a very intelligent child, in need of a team member that will continue to challenge him and support him in his growth.
Jordin is a typical teenage girl, talks a lot, is funny, loving, loves animals, music and arts. She is a lead singer in a junior rock band. She is active in a lot of local clubs and is a freshman in high school.
Karan and I love music and movies and would love to go out if we had the time, but we also love to spend time with our kids. I also love to spend time with family and friends when I get the chance. Karan is a huge soccer fan.
Our Caregiver's responsibilities will include driving the kids to school, playing with them, keeping them engaged, talking to them, preparing meals, and feeding Raj. She will clean up after them and after preparing the meals (putting dishes away and keeping kitchen clean), keep the play areas and their rooms clean (vacuuming), and take care of their laundry. Our caregiver's work hours would typically be for about 45 hours. During the school year we have a split schedule. We ask that you work with us during weekend hours to help bond with Raj and our family during that time. While we are seeking someone that is interested in being a family member, we will be flexible if there are things you want to do and explore with friends while you are here too!
The most important thing for us as a caregiver is flexibility, honesty and following our methods in working with the kids. If you choose to work with us, we'll try to incorporate you in all of our family activities
