Job Description
HOUSEKEEPER
Duties:
Keeping all areas of the home clean and tidy. This includes washing, dusting, polishing, ironing (on occassion) vacuum cleaning
and sweeping and mopping as appropriate.
Clean kitchen surfaces (for example, cupboards, appliances, counters and sinks)
• Damp dust furniture, light fixtures, window sills, etc.
• Empty trash containers daily and replace with clean garbage bags.
• Clean wash basins, mirrors, toilets, tubs, and showers daily.
• Report any needed repairs immediately
• maintain list of needed cleaning supplies and equipment
• Do all laundry except personal undergarments
• Sorting washing, load and unload machines taking care to use correct temperatures depending on types of fabric.
• Hand-washing of clothing as required.
• Ironing and pressing of clothing and linen as necessary.
• Sorting and folding and putting away clothing.
Occasional tasks may include:
• clean the inside of cupboards and closets
• clean the inside of appliances
• clean window.
• wash walls
• Keep the surrounding areas outside the home clean tidy.
• To undertake such other duties as may be determined from time to time.
Experience/Skill:
Previous housekeeping experience within a residential home setting.
Pride in housekeeping provision.
A positive attitude and commitment to high standards of housekeeping whilst respecting the individual wishes of residents in whose home he/she is working.
Ability to work on own initiative and prioritise work schedules.
Other Details:
The days of work will be Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, occasionally on a Saturday
- Provide general assistance to the primary care giver with childcare or supervisory services
- No cooking is required
- The compound is very secure
- Materials will be provided.
- Must have the occasionally Live in capabilities for visits to vacation homes, other properties or acompany family vacation trips as necessary.
- Knowledge about elderly care is an asset.
- Ability to drive is an asset. Car is available.
- Must be available on short notice
