Job Description

We are seeking a kind, responsible, and motivated au pair/nanny to join our household and provide loving care for our children. This position combines childcare responsibilities with light household assistance, offering a supportive and welcoming environment for someone who would like to gain more childcare experience while becoming part of a family.
Childcare Duties

The primary responsibility of this role is to care for the children in a safe, attentive, and nurturing way. Tasks include:

Supervision and Daily Care: Looking after the children at home, ensuring their safety, and supporting them in their daily routines. Experience level: No professional background required, but familiarity with caring for children (e.g., siblings, nieces/nephews, babysitting) is preferred.

Meals and Snacks: Preparing simple, healthy meals and snacks for the children. Experience level: Basic cooking skills are sufficient. Training and guidance will be provided.
Educational Support: Assisting with homework, reading, and learning activities. Experience level: General academic knowledge and patience with children are required. No formal teaching experience necessary.

Recreational Activities: Organizing fun and enriching activities such as arts and crafts, outdoor play, games, and storytelling. Experience level: Creativity and enthusiasm are more important than prior experience.
Routines: Helping with morning routines, bedtime routines, bathing, and dressing. Experience level: Previous informal childcare (such as family care) is sufficient. Guidance will be provided where needed.

Emotional Support: Being a caring and supportive companion, encouraging positive behavior, and providing comfort when needed. Experience level: Natural patience and kindness are essential.
Additional Household Duties

While childcare remains the main focus, the au pair/nanny will also be expected to assist with light household tasks to support the family. These include:

Grocery Shopping and Errands: Assisting with simple errands and weekly grocery shopping. Experience level: No prior experience required; instructions will be provided.

Laundry and Ironing: Helping with children’s laundry and occasional family laundry. Experience level: Basic knowledge is enough; training can be provided.

Light Housekeeping: Tidying play areas, children’s bedrooms, and shared family spaces. Experience level: No experience needed, just willingness to maintain a clean space.

Kitchen Duties: Tidying the kitchen after meals, washing dishes, and light cleaning. Experience level: Basic household skills are sufficient.

Cooking: Assisting with simple family meals when needed. Experience level: No professional cooking background required, only interest and willingness to learn.

Pet Care (if applicable): Feeding, walking, or playing with family pets. Experience level: Comfort with animals is enough; no formal experience required.

Carpooling/Transporting Children: Driving children to activities, if the au pair has a valid driver’s license. Experience level: Requires confidence in driving and a clean driving record. If not, other arrangements will be made.
Schedule and Hours

The au pair/nanny will typically work 30–35 hours per week. The exact schedule may vary depending on school times, parents’ work hours, and extracurricular activities. Two days off per week are guaranteed, along with free time during the day when children are at school or engaged in activities.

Accommodations

The au pair will have a private bedroom with Wi-Fi and personal space to relax. Meals and utilities are fully covered. You will be treated as part of the family and included in daily life, while still maintaining personal privacy.

Compensation and Benefits

Weekly stipend/allowance (in line with program requirements).

Paid vacation time and guaranteed time off.

Accommodation and meals fully provided.

Transportation assistance (public transit or use of family car, if applicable).

Opportunity to attend language or cultural classes.

Support with practical needs such as opening a bank account and getting to know the area.

Experience and Qualifications

We welcome applicants with both formal and informal childcare experience. While professional nanny or teaching experience is not required, we value practical experience gained through caring for siblings, nieces, nephews, or other children. What matters most is:

A genuine love for children.

Responsibility and reliability.

Patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude.

Basic household skills and willingness to learn.

Respect for family routines and open communication.

Cultural Exchange

This position is not just about work but also about cultural exchange. You will be invited to join family meals, celebrations, and outings, while also sharing your own traditions, language, and culture. This exchange is an important part of the experience for both you and the family.
